Yah…I didn’t mean to imply I thought he was Zodiac, by any means…or suggest he want people to publicly think he was. Just that what I read reminded me of the "State is in Trouble" letter…the tone, mention of "Oakland" and "San Jose".

Page 1"Zodiac" 10 Are Marked For Murder
SAN JOSE (AP)- The Highway Patrol station here reports receiving a telephone call from a man identifying himself as "Zodiac" and threatening to kill five patrolmen and a family of five by Monday.
Sgt. Robert Rengstorif said he took the call at 10:10 p.m. Friday from a man who told dispatcher Shirley Searcy he was "the Zodiac" and wanted to speak to the man in charge.
Rengstorif quoted the man as saying:
"I am going to kill five of you officers and a family of five between now and Monday."The patrolman said the call was not recorded and there is no way of knowing who it came from.
A killer who calls himself Zodiac first struck a year ago in Vallejo and has killed a total of five persons.
His last known communication was a month ago in two letters addressed to the San Francisco Chronicle.
I heard back from the Retired Officer that took the call in this incident,here’s what he says:
"Dear mr. Morford
I did receive a telephone call from (what I believed at that time was) the Zodiack Killer. It was busy night and I was helping in our dispatch faciliites. As the CHP is a traffic Law Enforcement agency, I forwarded the information to San Jose P.D..
I don’t recall the San Jose family that you mentioned nor do I have any additional information to provide you.

Excellent Morf! I’m glad you were able to make contact with the officer. Even though he was tight lipped about the event it was memorable to him, that’s saying a lot considering the amount of LE duties he has undoubtedly preformed since then.

Yeah,it really didn’t give us alot to work with,but was good to hear from him. I also reached out to the Oklahoma radio station that got a call from somebody claiming to be zodiac. I was hoping by a miracle, that they had a copy of this of this recording archived some place,but I did not hear back from them

Two thoughts on the call:
1) It came on Dec. 19,1969. On the same Friday 1968 – Dec.20 – LHR happened.
2) LHR happened on the last day of class before the Christmas holidays. The same is presumable for this date.
3) The threat is for the weekend, which goes to the weekend/holiday serial killer theory. A hoaxer probably would not be aware of that nuance of profiling. And one of the early Z letters had the same sort of weekend-expiration-date.All that makes me think it could very well be authentic.
Crypto unit refers to a "- + 6 2 + -". Says it might mean "1620" but that is not clear.
Any ideas on what " – + 6 2 + – " could mean?
I Do – First minus the two numbers 6 – 2 = 4
Next add the two numbers = 8 Gives you 48 = D H
Just like the Draft Board letter, the 4 – TEEN and the strange FBI letter!
Did anybody make a FBI request to receive this Z letter?
