I was told about this new hoax the night before last. Like everything else I had to check it out to be sure. I did not find anyone with that name . The next check was to see if anyone by that name or even close to it, was ever in the Marines ? Not only was she not in the Marines, there were no females with that last name in the Marines.
I wish that people who make up these story’s, go to jail or a mental institution for a long time, then maybe this sort f thing will stop! Thank goodness most of these hoaxers don’t know the Zodiac case well enough to pull it off. Gee whiz ,at least know the dates of the letters LOL.

Sandy, I’m impressed. I just counted the letters in her name, and when it wasn’t 13 I instantly ruled her out.
I have made a discovery, though.
I found this web site on "Women in the Marines" and if you look carefully, you can see an early photo of the Black Dahlia screening a Fincher movie.

"Thank goodness most of these hoaxers don’t know the Zodiac case well enough to pull it off." Your spot on there sandy! You’d think that before you set out to fool the World by claiming something, that they’d know a lot about whatever it is they are claiming. Take Mr Kaufman, for example. At first he was doing ok, even seemed to convince Aphrodite Jones at one point along the way! But then Kaufman decided to up the stakes and go from having a ‘theory’ to having ‘evidence’. Kaufman then produced Exhibit A: Black hood with Cross Hair’s symbol. Kaufman claimed that he had found this extremely incriminating evidence stuffed into a sterio speaker. He explained "I’m surprised I still had this speaker to be honest and don’t even ask me why I remember it, but I remembered it, Jack asked me once If I ever wanted to get rid of it, he wanted it. At the time I didn’t think nothing of it but I recently come across it and it suddenly clicked I was like, why would Jack want this? Then, for some reason, I decided to take it apart and that when I discovered it."
Kaufman held up the hood, that sinister and malevolent looking garment, for all the World to see. On the chest was a red coloured Crosshairs symbol, drawn or scrawled on, and about 15/20 inches in circumference. I could almost hear Bryan Hartnell, now a lawyer himself, shouting ‘Objection, your honour!’ at his tv while watching this evidence be presented. You would think that Kaufman would have at least thoroughly researched this hood’s description first before trying to recreate it. Hartnell describes Zodiac’s hood as "Black hood, comes down in the front rather like an overlay or a dickie. And on the front was about a 4 Inch crossed circle, with a cross hairs. It looked like it had been made with some type of machine or with some degree of care, it wasn’t just scrawled on with white paint. It was proportional".

Case Dismissed!

"So it’s sorta social. Demented and sad, but social, right?" Judd Nelson.

This sounds like that CaptainFun (?) guy who was a member here for a little while….I think Zam and Sandy met him.

Didn’t he say basically the same thing…that he found knives or something in a wall of a house he was remodeling somewhere in the same area?? It was on youtube.

What I don’t get is, all these ‘Zodiac’s’ being claimed by so many people as Their Father, their Neighbour, their collegue, their husband, etc, and if any of them offer evidence in support of their claim, it’s usually something like a hood with giant red symbol scrawled onto it that may as well have a sign on it "This is a replica and not the genuine Zodiac hood". Why hasn’t Kaufman walked into the SFPD’s office and slammed a drivers licence on the desk as evidence of his claim as the licence is that of one ‘Paul Lee Stine’?

If the real Zodiac wanted his name known, he had the means to do so without anyone being able to shout Bullshit, Liar or Fake in response.

Can someone post the rest of this strange story?
Just out of curiously I would like to read the whole thing.
Thanks, Zam*

Hi-

This is the type of thing that should have been posted on April 1st of some year! If she was also a psychic, who could have predicted the death of Richard Radetich, among other things, then maybe she did write all of the letters before she died. Come to think of it, that 11/9/69 letter was pretty long. Maybe that one did her in from exhaustion.

But she is the very reason the SFPD no longer take any calls or tips regarding Zodiac, and why the current SFPD Chief decided to move the case to ‘Inactive’. I can’t remember what his exact words now but I did read what he said in an article somewhere and it was along the lines of this…

"We had no choice but to label the case as ‘Inactive’and stop taking calls and tips on the case because we could not manage with the limited resources. I’ve never seen another case like this, every single day we’d get calls, tips and leads, most of which we knew were utterly redicilous, or came from another crackpot, or just simply illogical. But, because the Zodiac case was, at that time, an active and open investigation, we are duty bound by the law to follow up every tip and lead that comes in on an active homicide case. We just could not cope with it, we found that we spent so much time on these false tips and dead end leads from a case that happened 40 years ago, that we couldn’t give our full attention and resources to a mother sat in my office who’s son had been murdered a week ago. We had to close it, we didn’t have a choice."

WC – I’d love to read the source!
It’s Lt. John Hennessey you’re "quoting" I would guess. From 2003, 2005 or 2009, depending where you read it. (One place is SF Gate, where Mike_R gets a nice platform.) If it isn’t LA Times, or SF Gate and if it’s a nice long piece, I’d love to read the source if you wouldn’t mind. ;)

Oops! Sorry Zam – I think this is all of it, as I posted early on,
(It’s certainly enough!)

I really enjoyed this information, and subsequent discussions, it may be nonsense, but it’s pretty cool!!

340 divided by 25 (movie names) equals 13.6.

The average movie title length for 2001-2010 seems to be 13.8.

Clever detail or… :D
