Sandy,
When I read RTF’s comment, I took it as a joke about Zodiac…not in relation to you.
There are other things that were left in the car that day that could prove it was left by Zodiac, but Law enforcement said they are only interested in seeing the costume.
What did LE enforcement tell you in terms of why they weren’t interested in any piece of potential evidence that might help them solve the case? It seems odd they wouldn’t jump all over anything that might help them solve it.

That is what I would have thought, anything that had DNA on it left in the car , would be proof everything else left that day was from the killer.
I have spoken to probably a dozen Det. over the yrs. The only ones that I feel gave a damn about the case was David Toschi and Mike Maloney, Roy Conway. I haven’t spoken to Terry Poyser long enough to tell him what I knew about Vallejo late 60’s and who I believe Zodiac is and why.
after listening to hundreds of podcasts and docs on true crime one thing seems clear:
police HATE evidence.
they fail to collect it, screw up collecting it, lose it, mix it up, fail to process it, etc.
In a way, it seems like they should not have anything to do with evidence collection.
Their job has so much more to do with people and upholding laws, etc.
How are we supposed to expect that they can also be experts in material sciences and reliable archivists?
Nowadays, police don’t collect the evidence. Not that mistakes aren’t still made….only human.
