Just want to ask fellow members if they know the answers to the following:
1. Has it ever been confirmed that Kane’s DNA was taken, then tested, against the partial DNA profile that was alleged to have been lifted from the Zodiac envelopes? (I know some will argue that the DNA on the stamps/letters may have been contaminated over the years with people handling them, but while watching a rape/murder cold case on tv yesterday, the detectives explained that they were able to detect two different DNA profiles found in the deceased womans body, and that they extracted the DNA, and then separated the combined DNA profiles back into two and caught the two men responsible. So even if cross-contamination has occured (which I am highly skeptical that it could, considering the DNA was said to have come from te back of the stamps that were affixed to the letters).
2. What happened with the FBI’s response to Vallejo PD’s request, in 1991, for a print comparison to be made between Lawrence Kane and the Print from the Cab and/or palm print from the Zodiac Letter? The FBI document is online in the FBI’s Vault that shows a request for a comparison, but nothing more. Now I have had it suggested ‘Well the FBI probably didn’t reply with an official document because there was nothing they found when comparing the prints.’ That is not how it works, as is evidenced with the same document requesting FBI compare Arthur Leigh Allen’s prints to the prints suspected to be that of Zodiac’s, aswel as his palm print. This document is submitted to the FBI, and they carry out the comparison and then there is another document with the results of the comparison. Why is there no result document with Kane? Was his prints even found and compared? Vallejo PD say in their request to the FBI that they have sent requests to the S.F.P.D & Benicia PD asking them to send Kane’s prints to Vallejo PD, should they have them on record. Valljo PD said in closing that if Neither the SFPD, Benicia or the FBI have Kane’s prints on file for comparison then the Vallejo PD stated that, because Lawrence Cane was found to be in posession on a fraudulent drivers licence recently, that they plan to arrest him for this offence and obtain his finger prints this way. I mean this is 22 years after the events, and Lawrence Kane of San Francisco, is now Lawrence Cane of Cave Rock Villas, Nevada.
Anyone confirm any details of the two above questions?

Welsh Chappie, I can confirm that Larry Kane/ Cane’s right hand finger prints are available, because I have a copy of them. They can be found at the court house in Minden NV.
I doubt that they did any DNA test on Kane, I think Harvey would have told me if they had.
My understanding of the messed up DNA at the SFPD lab, was that they took samples from more than one envelope, mixed them together, to get a larger sample to work with. So lets say that one of those envelopes was a copy cat, or that there is actually more than one Zodiac working in tandem, that made it impossible to extract one good sample. If there is some way of separating them out with todays technology they haven’t done that, that I know of.
Did they use all of the envelops that they had, or are there some at other police dept that have a few that haven’t been tested ?
Why can’t they do a microcondrial ( not sure of the correct spelling ) DNA test on the hair that was found under the stamp ?
I have heard that what they do have can be used to exclude suspects. I would like them to check Gyke’s , TK’s and the DNA I have on my suspect, all other possible suspects with in reason.
I am glad that Vallejo PD did take an interest in Kane, I thought they were only interested in Art Allen. Now I am wondering if they took him into consideration shorty after I told them part of my story and showed them the picture that they said was Larry Kane ?
That was in 1990 , Harvey Hines probably had something to do with it.
I wish they should test the letters that they think were done by a copy cat, letters like the Citizen letter, Red Phantom, the 74 and 78 letters etc.
Ty Sandy. I’ll go to the FBI online vault an about half hour and pull the docments up that are there showing Vallejo PD’s request for Kane’s prints. I remember from memory tat the documents list’s several reasons why they are submitting the request to the FBI. I’ll go find them, and show you them.
As for seperating DNA, all I can say is that I watched a cold case episode the other day, and on it, LE found two seperate DNA profiles in a rape victim and they seperated the two back into their original profiles.

WhatI do find interesting about these Documents is that they clearly show Kane wasn’t looked at for the Zodiac Crimes untill Jan 1991 (as dated on the FBI Document).
It’s also interesting to note that, according to Vallejo PD in these submitted Documents…
"Investigation has placed Kane in the locales where several of the Zodiac’s victims either lived, or were killed."
So from that, we know Kane had the Means and Oppertunity, as he was in the local area and lose proximity to where several victims either lived themselves, or where they were attacked.
Vallejo PD must have felt that whatever they found in their investigation of Kane was strong enough to warrent them to Re-Open their Zodiac Cold Case, as you can see stated in the Document above.

Good job Welsh Chappie ! Do you think I should let the FBI and VPD know I have Kane’s prints ? LOL Very sad to think that I could find them and they didn’t ?
You could try, but I doubt they’d accept them as they are not official prints on record that they can match to a name, so they’ll probably say they cant accept them for comparison on the grounds that the prints could belong to anyone. Try though if I was you, but when you contact them, try not to use the word ‘Zodiac’ lol. You know what the majority of LE’s reaction is when someone calls or emails wanting to offer new evidence or make any claim regarding the case, as one cop said about the Current Chief of SFPD, ‘He just want’s this case to go away altogether’. Make it appear as though your call isn’t anything other than your attempt to be a helpful Citizen and offer the prints you have simply because you had come across the FBI Documents that stated Vallejo PD were trying to obtain a set of Larence Kane’s prints.
DNA sems out of the question with Kane, on every website i have located him on, while every other person on that page will have relatives linked to them on the page, Cane is the only one that never has. So to even find out who his close relatives were so that they could, if they wished, give a sample of their DNA because as you know, close relatives share extremely similar DNA, is impossible to do with Kane….So far anyway.
But yes, try Vallejo PD and just say your contacting them to see if you can assist them in anyway because you happen to see the documents that request his prints in the FBI Vault.

Sandy hadn’t you seen these files on Kane before? If you hadn’t i’d have sent them to you a a long time ago.

No I didn’t see that before that I can recall ? The prints I have are from Larry Cane/ Kane who was arrested by LE in Lake Tahoe, these prints were legitimately taken by LE. It shows his prints name date of birth address. I have to have permission from Douglas county sheriffs dept. to show these prints, is what is stamped in large red letters on that paper. So these aren’t just anyone’s prints, they belong to Lawrence Cane with proof.
