Does anyone know the names of Don Cheney’s parents? Was his mother named Emma? Or maybe Laurel? Does anyone know if he had a sister named Nell Rae?
Someone posted some info on one of those ancestry message boards about a Don "Chaney" and I am trying to figure out if she means "Cheney" but just spelled his name wrong. If I can make the connection of the Don Cheney from the Zodiac case being the son of Emma/Laurel and being the brother of Nell Rae, then I will have a new theory about Don trying to set up Leigh Allen in order to protect another one of his family… but first things first, I need to connect these dots.
Emma’s birth name was Emma Laurel Carlson (1897-1985). She was the daughter of Charles Peter Carlson and Anna Matilda (Hansen) Carlson and was the middle of 7 children. Her younger brother Jules played football for the Chicago Bears in the 1930’s. 6 of the 7 siblings are listed on findagrave.com but Emma is not on there.

Cheney said that ALA molested his daughter, so open and shut case.
Cheney also said that his DNA was checked against Zodiac. Aside from the doubts that people have about the DNA itself, the police were supposedly checking the DNA of a guy who wasn’t ever even a suspect?
Is there anything but 100% that this guy was out to get Allen and that he was full of crap? but if you could get some proof against him, that would be great.
I’m not saying he was out to get Allen. I never even put much thought into that really, BUT… Sandy sent me an email about a guy (a potential POI) and I started doing some research and the guy has/had a half-brother named Don Cheney or Chaney. It’s probably just a coincidence but maybe not. There is more to it, trust me, but Sandy found this potential POI so I wouldn’t feel right about posting his name or why he grabbed her attention. It’s pretty interesting I will tell you that much.
IF this guy and Cheney were half-brothers then Cheney saying ALA molested his daughter would make perfect sense. Especially since he probably knew ALA was a child molester. If he found out his half-brother was a killer then maybe he felt the need to protect him and saw ALA as the perfect guy to set up. That could explain why he waited so long to come forward, because it was later on that he found out he was related to Z.
These are just ideas I am throwing out there. Sandy gave me a name and I found out the guy had a half-brother named Don Chaney or Cheney. That’s it.

Don Cheney died Nov. 14 2009 in Benton WA. Here is his Find A Grave page-

His birth record at Ancestry says that his mother’s maiden name was Fryrear.

I ran across the last name of Cheney when researching the SRHM victims. Yvonne Weber had a close friend with the last name of Cheney. The two girls lived a couple of blocks from each other. I’m not going to post her first name because she is still living.
Yvonne’s older brother Mark ended up marrying this friend of his sister in 1980. They had two children then divorced. Her father was Carl Cheney and I could find no relationship to Don Cheney. However, I was able to connect Carl Cheney to another one of the SRHM victims. Lori Kursa’s mother and step-father rented the home they lived in when Lori died from Carl Cheney.
Maybe you can connect this guy you are looking at for Sandy to Carl Cheney????
