Can you clarify something for me please….In the Little list thread, you wrote: "Here is my best Groucho transcript version of As some day it may happen".
Of the version you outlined….is it the actual transcript/actual lyrics or did you transcribe yourself from an audio version?
Thanks.
What was funny is that originally I went by just hearing it. I made some comical errors along the way….which is EXACTLY what I think Zodiac did.
With help my funny goofs were corrected (tete a tetes and Nisi Prius–as I had no idea what the heck that was)
But Groucho’s version is quite clear to understand. I will try to figure out how to share my recorded version.
Hmm, if Hal Snook wrote the letters, as has been mooted recently, then HE would have known what Nisi Prius meant, eh? Hmmmm.

I don’t know. Zodiac didn’t write "Nisi Prius"…he wrote "nice impriest"…lol
Would seem the writer and myself didn’t have a clue.

I’ve always been suspicious of the line:- "And the Idiout who phraises for inthusastic tone" in the context of Z’s version being recited from listening to the Mikado’ or knowing it and deliberately making alterations. That he incorrectly spelled two words Idiout/inthusastic…OUT/IN seemed deliberate and not down to poor spelling.
When I seen it in the transcript,(and Z’s letter) I wondered if Groucho just pronounced Idiot that way or if it was scrpited that way (for comic effect) or thirdly it was scripted Idiot and pronounced Idiot.
I’ve since answered my own question having found and listented to Groucho’s version, clearly it’s idiot and could not possibly be confused as Idiout.
Had it been scripted "idiout" then Z must have had the actual lyrics and therefore no reason to get the errors so wrong (unless to decieve)
Had Groucho pronounced it Idiout, then it would have fell in with everything else.
