So if he had no prescription glasses on at BRS or LB, maybe his claim of wearing a disguise in the Bus Bomb Letter is possible and this was his intention at PH.

I still say it would be odd for Zodiac to put on Paul’s glasses, but we KNOW Paul needed them and from all accounts, Paul’s were missing.

Could it be he got the feeling he was being watched?

This discussion seems to be as divided as the Cheri Jo Bates in relation to Zodiac discussion.

*Clip on glasses, may or may not have been attached to real glasses

*Hartnell didn’t notice glasses

*Cecelia told somebody he had glasses and it is noted in report, and years later, Collins although he never mentioned in a report what Cecilia told him, also mentions glasses.

As an added curve ball, creepy guy seen by 3 girls, who may or not have been Z, did not have glasses.

Geeze,it’s all over the place.

I guess it comes down to what you believe. Me personally, I will go with what Cecelia stated to a witness, and that matching Zodiac wearing glasses at the Stine scene

I have put on some prescription glasses of Family members before, and I honestly do not know if I would be able to walk around, especially at night.

Wouldn’t have Bryan have mentioned that Cecelia said the guy was wearing glasses prior to the hood though? Sure seems like he would have said something like that had he been aware of it.

Cecelia told it to the witness that was there. Maybe they were both being tended to separately? I am sure Bryan & Cecelia, both in a lot of pain, were not paying attention to what each other was saying

Can you direct me to where it says this prior to the hood?

Page 1 of this thread, last sentence of the report, sorry,I assumed it was prior to the mask, maybe she noticed them thru the eyeholes. It was Collins who mentioned before the hood I think. Either way, she definitely told somebody he was wearing glasses with clip-on glasses over them

I think so too. I think he did something with his hair and either wore glasses to PH, or took Stine’s. Certainly, no one has, to this day, even tried to clear up the matter of Stine’s eyewear, for if we could get confirmation from SFPD that his glasses were not at the murder scene, the only deduction then is the Zodiac wore them on his way out, which means he probably didn’t wear glasses at all, which cleanly dovetails with what Hartnell and Mageau said immediately after they were attacked.

And I don’t believe anything Collins said in 2007 for obvious reasons.

I think so, FWIW, and maintain that is the most obvious and likely reason the cab went one block down to Cherry. He didn’t want to be seen because he was far more open and exposed than at any of his previous crime scenes.

Also, as was written in another post, I once wore Rx glasses to a place I was not supposed to be in order to disguise my appearance. It’s a pain, but it can be done. It was nighttime, also. Basically you have to look around the glasses. Can’t describe it any better than that. And the Zodiac may have worn them only for the benefit of the children and the oncoming police car, meaning he kept his head down and wore the glasses when he saw headlights fast approaching. Thereafter, he would have taken them off.

Just a theory, although the Zodiac wearing his glasses would make simpler sense, aside from the two inescapable aforementioned issues.

I think Z wrote that he wore a disguise only when he "did his thing" to try & throw cops off and make them think that he didn’t look like that. Personally, I don’t think he was using a fat suit, wig, or glasses as part of a disguise,I think he looked like is shown in the sketch(maybe to some varying degree)and we are lucky to have that to work with

The cops actually had the same composite without the glasses too. Although this isn’t the one they circulated. I think they should have put a side-by-side comparison.

So what’s the obvious reason to not believe Collins? He had nothing to gain with his admission of negligence. By his laugh and facial expressions he was clearly embarrassed. I fail to see the comparison to Mageau. One is old, admitting an oversight or mistake. The other is old and had a hard alcohol and drug abused life and changed his description. One has their witts and the other isn’t dealing with a full deck anymore.

Collins either lied or he does not have his wits about him. At least Mike had mental issues or drugs as an excuse.

To me Collins laugh was more of his reaction of being called out. He thought a report "wasn’t important". Why bother to get a description if you didn’t think it mattered? And in such detail? It’s bs and Collins knew it. He practically copied what was mentioned in the interview of Bryan back in 1969: http://www.zodiackiller.com/HartnellInterview7.html

There are other statements by Collins who said it was Cecelia who gave the description for the LB composite (and if one believes that, why no glasses?) and he said it was that composite that was shown to the girls at the beach.

I wish the interviewer would have questioned Collins more…maybe he did and the guy is being spared the embarrassment of making up stories—probably just trying to be more knowledgeable than he actually was.

Would you?

POST EDITED

The original response was needlessly caustic – too much coffee.

Anyway – I took this as some sort of criticism of my stance, which I considered (and still consider) absurd, because I agree with your point and made a pretty much identical one in my very first post in the thread.

If I’ve misunderstood your intention, then I’m sorry.

Anyway – carry on, nothing to see here.
