One interesting bit of info, when I first heard of Kelley as a possible suspect I looked him up in my 1966 riverside phone
book and was surprised to see that he lived DIRECTLY across the street from where Cheri Jo went to high school !

His address in 1966 was 7718 Magnolia Ave.

That sure is interesting! I do think he is quite worthy of further investigation. I pushed this with someone who might be able to do something. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, seems like the Oklahoma guy is not the same Granville Kelley. I thought he might be because the timeline seems to line up (birth year around 1938). Oh well.

I know what you mean X, but it just seems like a weird coincidence that this predator was living so close to Cheri’s school
and home. Especially in light of recent events with the arrest Joe DeAngelo for the EAR/ONS/GSK rape/murder spree.
We know DeAngelo likely spent large amounts of time stalking and surveilling his victims.

These predators try to put themselves in positions of trust and authority to better enable themselves to prey on the most
vulnerable in society. it seems to me DeAngelo and Kelley are cut from the same cloth, so it would be wise for RPD to
take a hard look at Kelley.

Bud Kelley was the Detective in charge of Cheri’s case some years ago, So it was his job to study all the evidence in great
detail and Cheri’s diary was part of that evidence so that doesn’t seem unusual.

I remember reading somewhere that Cheri’s diary is still in his possession (at his home) if true that would be rather strange and
RPD needs to get it back !

You just made my point. If he’s going to work on the case after hours — maybe you bring some evidence home. For a few days.

My guess is there were whispers in the department that this guy’s a pervert – but no one stepped up to the plate and questioned a deeper motive.

In fact it sounds like they still haven’t.

I think Kelley is more credible solely as a Bates suspect. He is a convicted sexual predator so frankly it cannot be libellous to speculate.
