Turning a desk upside down to write a poem on the underside of the desktop seems unlikely. Who but a member of this forum would think of such a thing?;) Besides, I think I read somewhere that the desktop was of a swivel type.
As I’ve said before, the "rh" initials are, in fact, the poet’s. If they were not, their purpose was to cast suspicion on someone else. So, why was the poem, and its bogus initials, written on the underside of the desktop? Makes no sense to me.
Conclusion: the initials are the poet’s; the handwriting is, according to Morrill and other expert’s, Zodiac’s; ergo, "rh" are Zodiac’s initials.
While I agree, you may very well be correct, the issue is, maybe the poet gave themselves a fake writing name, ‘Robin Hood’ for example. Also, was the RH his first and middle initials, or first and last initials, etc. Who knows? I think for the reasons you cite, they may very well be his initials. He had no way of knowing the poem would ever be found or connected to the Bates case(or later to the Z case), so why make up a fake clue to cause confusion in the Bates or Zodiac case? Doesn’t seem likely. If there was a way to get a hold of the names of every RH student, teacher, or worker at RCC for 1965-1967, I would love to go thru those names one at a time. As for now, we have a good amount of RH names to work with

I find it interesting that during this time frame, 65, 66,
RCC was expanding it’s curriculum and required the construction of new classrooms, library, and student center. Its quite possible that used desks were acquired from other schools in the area and used in these new facilities.
Funny though, didn’t a custodian find the poem and didn’t a custodian also find the body?

I was just expressing the same thing in regards to the custodian/janitor to someone else…and have also considered the desk coming from another school.

The Man who found the body was a custodian, an old black man, not much of a Suspect as far as I can see. The Guy that found the desktop and reported it was also a Custodian, but I have never seen his name mentioned.

Very possible, and if the desk came from Ramona High School, the "poet’s" "rh" signing probably stod for Ramona High.

What you say is perfectly logical.
You don’t plant a fake clew in a manner which leaves it entirely up to chance whether it’s actually discovered or not. And even if it IS discovered, it’s a poem, open to interpretation, it’s not a clear message stating "I am a killer on the prowl, catch me if you can, regards, rh". A different custodian may have seen it and thought nothing of it.
A subtle, fake clew planted where it could conceivably remain undiscovered for ever. As you say, it makes no sense.
So, yes – if Z wrote the thing, the most obvious explanation is indeed that "rh" are his initials. Or at least an open reference to himself in one way or the other – name, nickname, whatever. But if the latter is the case – well, one has to ask why the hell nobody’s caught him!
The other possibility is that Morrill was wrong.

Who were the other experts?
I don’t have many good picture of the zodiac letters and ciphers but I believe there is another letter that has "rh" and some others with "r", what is the consensus on these? Has anyone tried to come up with probable matches for "rh", I find it interesting.

Go back to the first couple pages of this thread, and look at the excellent graphic analysis by Traveller1st, and you can see some really good comparisons

Tahoe caught me with my drawers dropped. Frankly, I can’t cite any "other experts" by name. However, I remember a comment somewhere that there were other graphologists besides Morrill who concluded the desktop poem’s handwriting and that of acknowledged Zodiac correspondence were created by the same hand. However, my assertion, as it stands, amounts to hearsay. Bad Dag! Bad, bad, bad!

I meant that there are other Zodiac communication(s) that are signed with a little "r" and possibly also "rh" in the bottom right corner. But like I said, I don’t have many good pictures. I’m sure at least the 340 has the "r".
I also wonder about how to interpret some parts of the poem.
Sick of living/unwilling to die <— reference to self or victim, or split reference?
cut. <— ???
clean. <— ???
if red/ <— ???
clean. <— ???
blood spurting, dripping, spilling, all over her new dress.
oh well.
it was red anyway.
life draining into an uncertain death.
she won’t die.
this time someone ll find her. <— this time?
just wait till next time. <— and then what?
rh

It’s a ‘sign-off’. I assume it denotes that it’s been checked for prints since the evidence in both cases shown here – one from the bottom right corner of the 340 and from the brc of the dripping pen card – have an area encircled in pencil with the ‘mark’ or ‘sign-off’ written in the same.
