Anybody knowing anything about friends of Mike Bates?

I’d bet Z was very shy and somewhat of an outcast. Mike Bates and Cheri seemed like they would be somewhat popular.

My theory is Z was around Mike’s age, knew of him, but the two may have never spoken and were not friends. Knew of Cheri as "Mike’s sister" even though he was not friends with Mike.

Or simply had a thing for Cheri and was aware she had an old brother. Mike would not be aware of all the men that had a thing for his sister.

You can see from reading my interview notes, that Sins states it didnt go down exactly as Graysmith wrote it,at least, not to the best of his recollection. Remember, when I talked to him he was in his 80’s and this was a while back,so his memory may be fuzzy
