Gosh, I forgot all about this note. This book has some good stuff.
I like that paragraph on page 5.

I’ve never been convinced that Z was in the military. Boots could have been bought at any old surplus store or yard sale. I have a friend with a pretty big stash of military clothing, boots and knives – never served a day in his life. He’s a bit of a collector/trader/fan and buys the stuff from several different sources.
