Hello. I have been interested in the Zodiac for some time. It had sort of fallen to the back of my mind and for years I had never thought about it until recently. Oddly I do not recall what piqued my interest again but anyway.

I was just thinking. The Zodiac aside from evading detection was not very good at what he did. Unless it was his intention but I suspect it was not. Particulary he is unaware of the fact he left survivors while notifying the authorities of a double murder for example in the case of Ferrin and Mageau. Lake Barrysea is pecular as in the instance of using a knife rather than a gun. I do not believe it would have been his intention to maybe leave a survivor as a knife attack is often more likey to be fatal than a gun shot. Not to mention the victims he did shoot he tends to spray his targets aside from Paul Stine because he was so close.

I am of the opinion that he had very poor eye sight, this may of course be obvious but it could factor heavily into the rather sloppiness of his acts. This is probably not a new observation. If he indeed wore his glasses over his Zodiac mask then I can only surmise he may have indeed had very poor vision. He makes many mistakes and in the course of events tries to make them appear intentional.

Welcome aboard Erskine.

The glasses thing oddly seems to get overlooked. I mean there has been discussions on whether he wore glasses in ‘real’ life but it’s not often carried through to explain certain things he did or didn’t do. Got me thinking about the witnesses comment as the Stine murder that the glasses he was wearing had thick rims. I know that was ‘a style’ back then but I am very short sighted and I wear ‘heavy’ rimmed glasses for the obvious reason that my lenses are quite deep. It’s perfectly conceivable that he was as blind as a bat and the ‘style’ of glasses happened to suit his prescription (no plastic or thin lenses. Bet he was miffed when thin frames came into fashion. Of course we don’t have reliable info that he wore glasses at every attack. Mageau said he didn’t but he’s changed his story since the interview for Fincher’s Zodiac in 2007.

Anywho,

Welcome.

Trav.

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.

When it comes to killing people, you’ve got that right! He was good at misleading though…imo.

Welcome and thanks for posting. :)
