Good to have you here! :)

Thanks for the fine intro.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

I must admit, as one who is usually 100% against guys like the one in the link, there is a small part of me that feels sympathy. The thing is, it wasn’t about his fine fashion sense :| . Girls most likely knew to trust their instincts. This guy had something wrong with him. They recognized it. It wasn’t about looks or money…it was his behavior. I have no doubt. While his actions stemmed from his frustration of his life experiences, he was most likely suffering from mental illness long before girls didn’t pay him any attention. It’s a shame mental illness has been largely brushed under the rug in this country for a long time–his parents recognized it and tried to get help. But, it’s like anything…people need to be hurt before something is done. It’s tragic.

He seemed to hold very entitled views of how he deserves women because of his acquired possessions. It’s likely he didn’t have much personality and creeped them out, as you say. Everyone suffers from mental illness at some point in their lives apparently, be it depression or brought on by addiction. The ability to hurt is more a personality disorder – so I’ve been told – as opposed to mental health problem, apparently the two are unique. You really hit the nail on the head and from asking several health professionals – A main cause of many mental health problems are the lack of a strong social circle – a warm loving family and a few good friends to talk about problems with.

I honestly don’t think that Zodiac had PTSD; you just have too much noise in your head to be able to plan anything and most just want to be left alone or get away from society, not gain notoriety. I would say Mike Mageau from reading about his life after his attack possibly did have it. I can fully understand how people would come to the conclusion that Z did and probably would myself if I hadn’t been through it.

I was thinking about my earlier post the other day and realised that the absolute main reason I felt Zodiac had AS was his downright weird sense of humour. From his use of the ‘little list’ or buttons to his greeting cards, they all remind me so much of the people I’ve known with it, it’s uncanny.

I can’t help but feel like the Zodiac had Aspergers, simply from how he spoke two the switch operator about after he killed his third víctim and attempted forth. he has certain mannerisms a person with Asperger’s would have. He would not let her interrupt him as he was saying his piece and if you compare the first couple notes from 1967 they are very similar to a person who would have Aspergers not just the style the look of it. It is known that people with Asperger’s have issues with handwriting. This also makes me think that there’s at least two people who identified as the Zodiac because of such a varied difference in the writing and the conflict in the reasons for his murders.

And this makes sense to me because disorders like autism we’re not a thing that was diagnosed back then they weren’t even considered an actual thing. So obviously policemen and detectives would not know what they were looking for
