Hello to everyone:

I have not been active for awhile due to serious health reasons, but am getting better slowly.

I joined the group around 2010.

My interest in the Zodiac goes back to when I read about the crimes as they happened.
Having lived in the bay area at the time, and over 55 years, I can remember the fear the killer caused among the entire bay area.

There were certainly a lot less people living there in those days. The highway Kathleen Johns encountered the killer has changed from "out of nowhere" to plenty of subdivisions; the
town of Patterson is now a fast growing city, along with the other former small San Joaquin
cities.

I am a retired NIS Federal Agent and take pictures and have a train layout. Thus, the name "Trainmaster."

Welcome back, Hogger!
My son’s an engineer on the BN&SF, and my maternal grandfather and uncle were switchmen on the SF in the old days.

Thank you very much, Morf! I will become more active slowly as I get my strength back.
I appreciate you keeping me active, even though I was too weak to post or look at the computer.

Dag, you know the train terms well! Your son is a hoghead (for those of you not familiar with train terms, "hoghead" is a name for train engineer, especially in the steam days) for BNSF??
I had a neighbor who is a hoghead for BNSF – like UP, they are a "no-nonsense" railroad!
I miss Southern Pacific! Every Sunday morning, when I lived in the bay area, I used to go out to Ozol, and "play train" with the crew. The conductor and enginner, both friends of mine, let me run the engine. We would go across Suisan Bay to Bahia to "turn the coke." Then, we sometimes had to sort cars in the yard upon return. Those were the fun days! The yardmaster didn’t mind. The trainmaster would have probably collapsed from a heart attack if he knew what went on, but since he had such a large territory, he never showed up on Sundays!

Just wanted to say, Trainmaster, that I had wondered where you were. Glad you are feeling better.

Neat stuff about the train! I loveeeee trains. We still have a steam engine dinner train about a two-hour drive from me in Bardstown, Kentucky. I went with some friends earlier this year on the day trip and had a ball.

Like you, I was around in the 1960s when Zodiac was a real bogeyman but I lived in Kentucky. We heard all about him on the nightly news and read about it in the "Nashville Banner." I was terrified to go parking while on a date. LOL

Take care and welcome back.

When in doubt, don’t.

Glad you are still with us TM. :)
