My name is Mike I live on Columbus Parkway, Vallejo Ca, near two of the Zodiac murder sites. I read and watch all I can about the case. I have a copy of the Z340 in my drawer at work. I use it as a cover for the papers underneath. I am leaning toward Kane and Sullivan both murdering independently and the evidence being mixed together. Creating one unsolvable case. Who, if you look apart from the common ‘suspects’, could have been a good fit to being a stocky guy with a round face in your neighborhood? Some kind of silent guy, not always there, boasting around and stuff? I know the question is vague, however maybe someone in your surroundings comes up with a good idea?

Wow! That’s a cool theory. I’ve often wondered if somehow the crimes were "twisted together." Like you said we’re committed by two separate people.

I have always speculated that zodiac was more than one individual, though n my speculations a partner was a common theme. As I understand your theory the crimes were committed independently and the evidence got mixed together, which could have happened, though there were letters sent to the press, telephone confessions, and writings left at the crime scene which linked these crimes all to a single individual or team of individuals.
Honestly, without the confession calls, notes to the press and notes left at the scenes of these crimes I doubt that they ever would have been connected.
A constant theme is the description of a "stocky white male, around 6 feet tall, weighing over 200lbs, described as large rather than fat, his face is described as being noticeably large, he is described as having dark blonde to dark Brown hair, worn in a crew cut, and is described as wearing black horn-rim glasses.
I have been focused on investigating officer Richard Hoffman in relation to blue rock springs, as well as another vallejo police officer named Buzz Gordon, both officers were rumoured to have been dating Darlene ferrin.
In other investigations I am seriously looking into Don Cheney, and to a lesser degree Norman Boudreau, both in association with Leigh allen.
Richard Hoffman did not know Darlene, let alone date her.
Buzz told me he went out with Darlene only one time and that is it. I also believe that there were two Zodiac’s working in tandem. However I do not think that either one was overly large. More like 5ft 8-10 and 175 to 200 pounds, barrel chested, round face, brown hair. The hair style that looked like a crew cut could have been the pompadour that Mike M saw at Blue Rock.
There were more witnesses that said Zodiac was a shorter man, than the one who thought he looked about 6ft tall. I reported my suspect as being 6ft tall, until I stood next to him, then he was closer to 5ft 8 or 9.
Independent murderers and an unrelated opportunistic letter writer is definitely a possibility. Remote, but would fit some of the facts. It is a variation on Team Zodiac.
