Hi everyone,

I’m the same Traveller1st from over at Mike B’s board as you can probably tell from the same name and avatar clew

I’m from Northern Ireland or if you prefer to have a go at our accent it pronounced Norniron. Ex-graphic designer of 17 years , musician (bass, guitar, singer songwriter), kitchen floor luthier (amateur instrument repair/restoration) last project was a cherry red squier stagemaster bought on ebay and upgraded with fender parts and a dimarzio super distortion humbucker and 2 high output singles.

Build my own PC’s and enjoy 3D work (still learning). Running current system through 40′ HDTV. Used to play wing in rugby.

Music – Slayer to Mary Chapin Carpenter and everything in between – if I like it, I like it.

So ….. Zodiac.

The 340, that’s what got me into all this. The 340 and ZKDecrypto (thank’s Glurk). I was drawn by the fact there was a mystery. That was about 4-5 years ago and it’s still a mystery. All I can say is I’m glad I didn’t have the inclination to join a forum back then – "I found a word, this could blow the whole case wide open!!!". I”m now thankfully older and stoopider and seem to have forgotten how to go to sleep.

The visual aspects of this case were what primarily held my attention as they were the little mysteries, the ciphers, the symbols and so on but since joining Mike’s board I plucked up the courage and posted stuff on the handwriting aspects. It’s
not handwriting analysis because I don’t know how to do that and probably couldn’t effectively anyway given what we have to work with.

I don’t have a POI and don’t really want one although I do enjoy reading about everyone else’s theories in that regard. I’m a brainstormer kinda thinker in my approach so all information is of interest to me whether it be fact or speculation because it can make me think of something seemingly unrelated that I might not have thought of otherwise. If you have seen my posts on the other board I tend to spend some the putting random stuff out there just in-case it inspires anyone in their own research even If I don’t know what to do with it and occasionally I’ll get a run on something where the information keeps presenting itself.

I found my way here by accident. I was looking for a cleaner version of the 408 for pattern comparison in google images when I clicked on one image and ended up on a thread on this board dated from yesterday and recognised some names from posts a few years back on Mike’s board and I’d enjoyed reading them so I decided to join.

Call me Trav

EDIT: That was back in 2011 not much add except I am mostly here now and to thank Morf13 for an excellent board and now this new website.

Hey, in the States there is a radio show hosted by Dee Snyder, do you perhaps listen to it in your neck of the woods?

I don’t but I’ve googled it and looks interesting. Might try and find it airing online. House of Hair? Is that the one?

…… and if I could only remember half of it, we’d be flying lol.

She’s a proper old skool one from the 80’s too. I’m a slave to gear, if it’s got cool lights on it I somehow need it or even if it doesn’t. Ebay has been my salvation and my ruin in equal measure.

Since you was kind enough to post me a welcome, I thought I could return some feedback.
You seem to be somewhat like me, though I can take a guitar apart, I cant put it back in working order. Anyway, I think you were coming onboard somewhere around the time I left. But I have been following every now and then. And I appriciate your contribution to the forum, and I hope that you continue with your input in the future.

… and I’m back, avatar speaking that is.

Yes Soze and others, Run to the hills. Seems to be the song that most remember and with good cause probably, because it was Iron Maiden’s first mainstream single and the first ever song to be played live on Top of the Pops in the UK. They insisted.

Thought it was time to switch back to my usual avatar.

It is most apt due to the subject matter but it’s also an image I had an affinity to for many, many years. I’m not totally sure but I think the artist used some letraset on the shop signs in the background of the full image. I have used letraset in my formative years as a designer. Even before that though, there was something about the image that connected with me and it was probably the depiction of the shops in the background which reminded me of similar shops near my house when I was growing up.

In high school I was in the role playing club. Yes it was geeky but then I was also in the chess club, table tennis club and a winger in rugby which eventually took up most of my time. I think I had a good spread as opposed to the popular depiction which polarizes people ie geek or jock in US parlance.

With regards to role playing we were pretty diverse. We started with dungeons and dragons and character sheets written out on A4 pages but grew to include all role playing games of the time from dracula to the DC and Marvel rpg’s and everything inbetween. One such offshoot was a game called ‘dark future’. A road race rpg where your character was a car and your attributes involved weapons and upgrades on the car. I can’t remember for definite the make of car that I used but I think it was a transam firebird or something very similar. Either way it was a diecast model and I modified it by hand with window grills and weapons from the game glued onto it. I also painted it and on the bonnet I painted the killers artwork with a paint brush that had about 5 hairs on it.

So myself and this image go back a long way. I’m sure others have their own back stories to their avatars, just thought I’d share mine. There was just something about the composition that spoke to me in this image and I truly believe it’s down to the artist’s insight and thought that he put into those works.

The artist of course being Derek Riggs – one of the world’s best illustrators in my opinion. Not only because of his skill but also because of his reasoning in his pieces.
