If Destry gave Welsh Chappie or I permission to release the Hines report, I would release it immediately. I believe you already know that, because I’ve told you before.

I wasn’t referring to you in any way shape or form. However, Ed Rust is on my list.

As for me being told the pines card was hoaxed by a Zodiac detective, that’s exactly what I was told. Regardless, it’s considered an authentic communication by law enforcement and is listed as such at my site.

I agree that the Pines card is authentic – there is no doubt whatsoever on that one.

"The report contains nothing pertinent to how Hines discovered where Kane lived, or how and what period of time he worked at the Lake Tahoe Casino, so these questions would not be answered."

That’s astounding.

Well, there’s literally no evidence Kane was working at the Sahara Tahoe until after Donna disappeared.

As for Kane staying at a motel on Oct. 11, 1969 just a couple of blocks away from where Zodiac crossed paths with Stine…another claim that is not corroborated. I frankly don’t see how it could have been possible for Hines to come along years later and find proof Kane was staying at a particular motel, those records were all on paper and routinely destroyed on a weekly or monthly basis. Not to mention it was the Tenderloin in 1969 and i.d. wasn’t required to rent a room.

I cannot find the Hines report anymore, but in the two short extracts I released, it’s clear that his evidence for his claims are through third parties including John Miles, apparently a friend of Kane. This is apparent in the section "Now, according to John Miles, I find that Kane lived at 217 Eddy Street in San Francisco prior to his moving to South Lake Tahoe. In looking at an area map of San Francisco, I found 217 Eddy Street appeared to be only about two to three blocks from where Paul Stine picked up the Zodiac on October 11th 1969". The sentence "Now, according to John Miles, I find that Kane lived at 217 Eddy Street" should immediately ring alarm bells. This is no more convincing than me quoting somebody else’s claims to know certain details.

He also stated "According to the employment records, Lass was working a late night shift in October of 1969 when the San Francisco cab driver, Paul Stine, was killed by the Zodiac." To back up any claims such as these it’s a simple task of providing the records. Donna Lass may very well have been working that night, but if you claim something to be the case, then you provide those records, as you would to confirm Lawrence Kane was working at the Sahara Tahoe Hotel & Casino during the relevant time period of Lass’ disappearance. From memory, to the best of my recollections, I don’t remember this being the case. The only thing I thought was interesting was his statement of "I then called inspector Dave Toschi at the San Francisco Police Department and got more details on the Stine killing. Toschi said they had determined the killer had called for a cab using the public payphone located at Union Square". Whether this was enquired upon, I don’t know.

Hines told me the same thing. It makes no sense.

(…) with the condition that it wasn’t released onto the internet. I asked Destry again in 2019 if it was possible to release it, but he did not want it released yet.

Seems that even he fails to believe that this suspect could have been involved.

Tom Voigt has unearthed a voice recording of Kane from the 1940s: https://youtu.be/hlYS-TeO6ww

He has a very strong New York accent, which does not correspond well with witness descriptions of Zodiac’s voice.

My friend lived in Wisconsin until her twenties and then moved to Rhode island and has been there for about ten years and now has a strong east coast accent, these things change for some people.
