has there ever been a search of old correspondence to the vallejo times, sf chronicle, and sf examiner between 12/20/68 and 07/07/69 to see if he did try to communicate regarding the lake herman attack?
thinking kind of outside the box, in the skeleton thread there is a discussion of his breaking the 408 into three parts. my two cents is he did it to make sure at least one of the publications noticed and took it seriously (and additionally to force all three to publish their part). i just wonder if part of the reason he did it this way is because a previous communication was perhaps ignored?
i have a history with media organizations and can speak from experience that they get a surprising amount of nutty calls, letters, emails, etc. i’m not sure if anyone would keep an archive of the crazy stuff but in reading i haven’t seen anything definitive. i know some of you are looking for other "letters to the editor" type stuff that sounds like him, but i’m talking about the possibility that he wrote something after lhr, claiming he did it, and it was ignored.
I would say it is definitely possible but would also think that he would have referenced that in another letter asking why it was ignored or something to that effect.

good point. i was thinking it seems odd that the lhr murder is the only one he didn’t immediately take credit for, either through phone calls or mailings. just wondering why.
