A couple of easy(hopefully) questions. Are there any known links between kaczynski and Manalli? How likely is it that a personal ad can be placed and then appear in the paper in less than 24 hours?
Thanks in advance,
Shhimthinkn
I don’t know of any connection, other than they were both teachers. Not sure what the procedure was for placing an Ad back then was. It’s not like now adays with the net where you simply click some buttons and enter your credit card info. I suspect, that the Ad could be placed by either calling it in over the phone(I did this a couple times back in the early 90’s),or by mailing it in.

I’m sure you could get an ad printed on short notice, i.e. within 24hrs (probably less than that too, many papers had both morning and evening editions and if you were willing to pay for it, I’m pretty sure you could read an ad in the morning paper and get an answer printed in the evening edition).
You’d have to call the paper (they’d have a desk for that sort of thing), though – and you wouldn’t be able to do anything of the sort without leaving a pretty clear trace behind. Probably impossible to pick up such a trace after all these years, however.
Another question … Is the watch still tickin
How likely is it that a personal ad can be placed and then appear in the paper in less than 24 hours?
No problem at all.
Re: the watch – the Riverside Timex? There’s a nice thread about that, elsewhere, which now includes a nice link.
FWIW I think it would still tick, ‘cos it’s a Timex, but since they let it run down for the post-crime photo’s, my ghoulish bet is that it ain’t still tickin’ right now.
Well if the watch is still around. Let’s check
