I am not a complete newbie to the case, but there are some things I am hoping to learn:

1. Has anyone determined if the Zodiac’s bomb designs actually work? Has an expert looked at them and said if they are operational? Or are they just bizarre pictures and ravings?

2. Has anyone explored the idea that Zodiac may have a background in electronics, electrical engineering, or may have been an electrician or worked for the power company? Where can I find more information about his avenue?

3. Other than being local bodies of water, do Lake Herman, Blue Rock Springs, and Lake Berryessa share anything in common? Are they overseen by the same governing body? Are they all used for the same purpose?

I’m sure I will have more questions, but I’m hoping someone with more knowledge of the case than I, can answer these for me. Thanks in advance.

"Water" and "Golf club" theories are very common for any serial killer. Mostly because you can find water as well as golf clubs almost everywhere. That’s why I discarded that one. It is just hard to discard let’s say 10 bodies without at least three of them ending up near a golf club. Investigators look on the map, what they see is a golf club (because they are larger than the pub next door) and develop the theory. One could also develop the theory that 99% of all crimes in the US happen next or near to a bar. I guess that might be true as well.

Besides that, there is no reason why somebody should commit his crimes explicitly next to water areas or golf clubs. There might be exceptions but a min. of 50% of Z related events or crimes did not happen on the parking lot of a golf club. Nor was he some type of Green River killer either.

The bomb design would work, however his drawing rather describes a trigger mech than a bomb. Of course it would. To mix explosives, however, requires additional information. Z did not write about that one. I think he would have been capable to set-up a trigger mech but couldn’t do so in public as it takes some time. Thus, he let his bomb (if it ever existed) end up in the swamp. He might have been busy getting the water out of his home, too.

He might have had some basic knowledge about electric wire diagrams. His diagram might work but is very simple. Rather not the work of a professional electrician, imo.

LH and BRS is both in Vallejo area, which can make us believe that he had some ties up there.

Never thought of it before, but there’s a golf club three blocks from the Stine scene.

So, Zodiac’s aptitude with electrical concepts – is this your opinion or has this been independently verified? What did investigators say about his experience or knowledge of electricity?

All of the names listed above can be genealogically connected. So there is a connection between the crime scenes.

I’ve never heard of this. Someone should make a graph about it. Just to see how close these relations actually are, or if they’re distant enough to fall just in the area of everyone being related to eachother when you go back far enough.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but apparently the name came from a local Native American language by way of a creek in the area:
