Sorry. I’ve just heard one too many, "My father was the Zodiac killer" stories.

I’m surprised we haven’t heard any ‘Zodiac was my grandfather’ stories yet.

Uncle, brother, son. It’s always Dad if a relative.
Although I do certainly think it’s possible! The reason we do what we do; share and discuss, is not only for ourselves, but for others to have resources that may help them when they have their own suspicions. Some are valid and worth looking at, while others aren’t. It usually doesn’t take too long to know.
I’m with Mike on this one, although we shouldn’t dismiss leads, it does reach a point, that when somebody makes another one of these claims, it’s like the cry wolf scenario, you simply stop believing them.

I’m not sure if it’s a matter of believing someone. If all they have is talk, or black potato bags, than yes. But… I think we must start with what is offered (on occasion) or what’s the point? Do I think this will lead to Zodiac’s identity? Probably not, but why not take a peek.
The story might not be fake…just not accurate.
There are two aspects to this one that might turn out to be positives, other than just the claim of "Daddy did it." First, there is apparently a group of somewhat qualified people in Pittsburgh taking an active interest in this case, and second, there is a handwriting expert who might, hopefully, be willing to share some insight with us as well. Getting these people to participate in this site is what I’m seeing as the main thing here…….
Hi-
Make no mistake: There are people whose handwriting is similar to Z’s. That is inevitable. We’ve all seen them. I was told by Vince Repetto of a guy from New England who had a legal doc he had handwritten that had something like 19 of the 26 characteristics of Z’s handwriting. When they took that writing to a forum of experts and showed it side by side with Z’s without saying what case it was, every expert raised his or her hand saying it matched. When they were told it was about the Z case, none of them did because they did not wish to even possibly be wrong about a major case.
There is also Kaczynski, whose writing looks very similar to Z’s.
What makes this handwriting different is the back story and whether that is believable. It clearly implies that Z is so cavalier these days he doesn’t care if he is caught and is even encouraging his daughter to unmask him. Since they seem to be operating off of one sample from a 2015 holiday card, my question is where are all the other cards and/or letters he may have sent his daughter over the years? Does she routinely throw them out? Or did I misunderstand something?

Hi-
I understand now that the 20 "detectives" are from Oakland, PA, not CA.
Lol. I should have searched on the handwriting expert’s name earlier. I found this: http://jimfisher.edinboro.edu/forensics … amsey.html
She is a graphologist, not a QD person. But she calls herself a "handwriting expert" to avoid using the correct term.
My sources have confirmed that the QD guy who is THE leading expert on the Zodiac handwriting has not been consulted about this writing and he said he has never heard of this lady.

My first thought was ok here we go again, but im really trying not to pass judgement on these type of claims..outside hope is something comes out of this but id give it around 1.1% chance..prolly less but i truly hope i am wrong….
SFGate (SF Chronicle) has picked up the story!

Will the handwriting samples be shared?
There is no foundation to any of this and will be a dead end.

ding-ding-ding
Graphology is nonsense and I’ve been saying it here forever. People have got to quit investing time into this pseudoscience. This is honestly akin to alchemy in terms of legitimacy.
I wonder if the gal heading this class? study? contacted any of the Ca. LE Dept’s. to see if the name rings a bell at all?
I reached out to this group and got no response
