Welsh, good info,thanks for sharing. We can dig a bit more for sure. Really weird that they released this info about him mentioning him by name, usually, you have to prove that the person is dead,and then they will release it.

Ah but Morf i foresaw this barrier and stated in the FOIA request to them that "Due to this man’s name and details not being known, it is therefore impossible for me to provide any details on his current status and if he is still alive or deceased."

How can I provide proof of his death or anything else for that matter when the whole reason for the FOIA request is to release the name of the man because it has been redacted in their documents? That is why i assume that the FBI say the following in their response to me…

"Documents were located which originated with, or contained information concerning other government agencies (OGA). This information has been:

Referred to the OGA for review and a direct response to you.
Referred to the OGA for consultation. The FBI will correspond with you when the consultation has finished.

The Other Government Agency they speak of is The Dpt. of Justice. They seemed to check with them first as to the legality of releasing this mans name and details, or more simply, that he was dead, before they released it.

Robert "Bob" West died March 3, 2013, at the age of 77.
Mr. West was a resident of Oakhurst for the past three years.
He was born Sept. 2, 1935 in Stillwater, Okla.
Mr. West worked for the Lord as a minister for more than 50 years for the Church of Christ in various congregations.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
A memorial service was held March 13 at the Coarsegold Community Center.
Remembrances may be made in his name to the American Heart Association

Ah rite, I see. And yes, he died in March this year as I say in the first post. The timing of my FOIA request in relation to his death is sheer coincidence and a very lucky one at that. Had he not have just died and they responded by refusing to release the name, i probably wouldn’t have tried again. So yeah, the timing of my request couldn’t have been better.

I personally have a real hard time believing that a Minister would be Zodiac. Again, dont stop digging or looking, but I would go with caution from here.

I think I should also maybe clarify my position on this.

My releasing this new suspects name and details is in no way intended to imply that I personally have an opinion on whether he is or isn’t Zodiac. The sole purpose of me requesting this man’s name and details from the FBI was simply curiosity with my reasoning being ‘The more pieces of a jigsaw you have available to you, the better the likelihood of being able to see the bigger picture and solve the puzzle’.

I do not claim that this man is Zodiac, or that he was involved in the crimes of Zodiac in any way, and the reason for posting is, as I said, to make this name known to everybody. Make of it what you will, and form your own opinions as you wish. I, as most know, believe Kane was and is Zodiac so it would be counter-intuitive and stupid of me if I posted this with a belief and opinion that Robert West was The Zodiac.

The FBI memo stated that Mr. West lived in San Fran. I found ZERO listings for a ROBERT H. WEST in the 1970 SF directory,so he may have moved by 1970. I dont have a book for 69

Well the speculation has always been that Zodiac may have had a British Connection due to his use of English with the main example being ‘I shall’ rather than the more common U.S term ‘I will’. He wasn’t British, that we can say almost certainly because Slover, Hartnell & Slaight all said they detected no accent (some do mis-quote Hartnell by stating he said he had a drawl and associate this automatically with The Southern States Accent, when Bryan was not talking of the sound or accent of his voice, but rather he was describing the way in which he spoke). The King James, and new King James versions of the Bible which were the most commonly read back then and even today remain a favourite of the faithful, these books use the Common English ‘I Shall’ consistently. Well, in fact there have been some murders that appear to be marriage-related..also the lover’s lane mo could match sort of an ‘ethical’ motivation for the killings.

You mad old b*****d lol. You do my head in. You do, with your mainc posts and all. Now, that being said and I have just said it I’m not judging you. Who am I to do that? Truth be told and god help me for admitting this I’m really pleased to see you posting again. We all feel our way in this world and find little enclaves and try to protect them. That was and is the most political we ever get here. I hope our recent interactions weren’t hurtful when you took your leave.

Now, I haven’t read your findings yet and maybe I’m not the best person to do so, so maybe that’s not such a bad thing. I would however like to pick up on the thing that morf highlighted. I do not feel in any way that being a ‘minister’ is a red flag, sorry Mike. Look at BTK he was an active and elevated member of his own church. There are also elements of Zodiac’s communications that have made me wonder about a ‘spiritual’ connection. Take the halloween card for example. Could that be a blatant bastardisation of the ‘Jesus saves’ signage?

Anywho I just wanted you to know there isn’t any ill will. There never was. So whether you choose to be here or not is up to you and I’m glad that path is open to you. I’m a bit of a sap and I do think about everyone that crosses my path and wonder how they are and if they are ok.
