I don’t have time now to look now, but I can tell you,the Lass pic with color & doodles on it you posted can also be found someplace on these two sites-
http://thezodiackiller.digitalzones.com/ & http://www.officialcoldcaseinvestigatio … 470&page=2

Obviously, the first is Kauffman’s site, and if that pic originated there, I wouldnt be too excited about it being authentic

It seems to me the image is showing the back side of the card with part of the front side of the card included at the top. In other words, someone c Whoever posted this image makes a notation that the card was postmarked, but to the best of my recollection, it was not. What you have is not an "original image" from the SFPD or SF Chronicle in 1971, but an image created by someone after. Any images of pentagrams, spokes, etc. are no doubt due to notes, scribblings, etc. made by the person who created this particular image.

I agree with Tracers and Morf. This is not an original but a copy and the doodles are just what ever paper was there when the copy was made. Zodiac did not draw these images.

All I really know is that I did not put those images there. Well, that Stan Lee just happens to be involved in a project called ZODIAC that incorporates the image shown here and which was used in artwork that preceded the Zodiac murders, and to my knowledge never heretofore associated with such (other than in e-mails I have sent to SFPD and a few others) in the last decade.

In any case, it would be good to find who posted the scan I have with the images, because it’s likely someone with an inside scoop.

If you go to Morf’s first link, the Digital Zones one, and click on "View#15", the Pines card that you posted is shown. Here’s the direct link to the image-

Look at it closely, particularly at the top. You can see that someone has used wite-out to cover up any writing that would normally be there from being printed from a computer. Also, if you look at some of the other "documents" on that webpage you can see that the same color marker is used to outline or highlight things and the handwriting looks the same, too, on notations made on those "documents".

This stuff all looks like the work of Dennis Kaufman who in the past has proven to be less than honest.

Some years back, Kaufman used to say he was a Satanist. His old friend named Joanne claimed he wrote a book on the subject, iirc. So no surprise if that scan of the Pines card has a pentagram on it.

Thank you so much, Morph. The first is a scan of the (Zodiac) Peek Through the Pines postcard. You will note that the scan of the card in this particular instance reveals drawings on the card that for some reason are not apparent on other scans of the card that I have seen. It is almost like the creator of the card made drawings and doodles and notes on papers that were stacked on the card at one time, and they left imprints on the Pines card that can be seen in this scan. As you will note, there is a pentagram, and a letter/number sequence that is on the left hand side and include what appears to be an 8NDROLS as well as other figures I cannot make out. There is also an arrow and to the right of the number sequence there is a "doodle" that looks like a circle with spokes coming out of it and circles drawn on the ends of each of the 5 spokes.

I have never seen anyone but me mention these drawings embedded in that Pines card.

The second drawing is one from the graphic novel that Stan Lee is working on with Disney, titled ZODIAC, and due out January 2015. The comparisons to the drawing on the postcard are obvious. I have for 7+ years been working from the theory that someone whom I cannot name, because he is still living, but a famous comics personage who worked for Charlton Comics and then with Stan Lee at Marvel is very possibly the Zodiac.

It just seems to me that as these people are getting close to the end of their lives, they are putting out clues to the identity of Zodiac.

Sigh…..Steve Ditko is not the Zodiac.

I get what you are saying about the embedded drawings, but it does seem rather significant that the images seen, which scan I saved almost a decade ago, appeared pre-Zodiac in my POI’s comics, and is now pretty much repeated in a graphic novel titled Zodiac, which will be written by one of his comic book partners from the early/mid 60’s.

It seems like you’re referring to Steve Ditko, why? Based on him being a shut in and his Mr. A character and other later work? Maybe Zodiac is Jack Kirby, that symbol on your scan of the letter looks vaguely reminiscent of some of Kirby’s cosmic tech for DC in the 70s. Unless you’ve got other substantiating evidence, I think this is a dangerous line of inquiry. Any CA connection? He was born in NY, still lives there, did he ever leave? Because he espoused Randian, sometimes violent, philosophies in his art, we are to assume he’s a killer? Maybe Ayn Rand is the Zodiac? Alan Moore wrote a comic book about Jack the Ripper, did he commit the Whitechapel murders? Humans are able to cope with, understand or digest the sometimes cruel and savage world around us in a variety of ways, some of us with art, some with work, or family, and others maybe with violence. All of us are fascinated, titillated, and/or horrified by death and the macabre in some way, why else would we be posting here? Does that make us pathological? Maybe I’m way off-base and you’ve compiled all sorts of promising evidence against SD (or Don Heck, or John Severin or whoever your POI is), but it seems like a lot of these "investigations" center around somebody’s creative output, and imo condemning someone as deviant for their art, no matter what it is, is equivalent to Nazism.

Thanks Deb.

The writing is DK’s. As are the doodles and the encircling etc. As a side note, DK’s handwriting is quite Zodiac like in it’s own right. A good example of why any writing has to be looked at as closely as possible and every tick, turn, stroke etc examined otherwise DK could end up as someone’s POI lol.

My son got me a copy of this book at his school’s book fair because he knows I am into the Zodiac case and he is a huge Stan Lee fan, so I guess he thought it made sense to buy it. Haven’t had a chance to check it out yet.
