Could this post be related to the recent goings on? It’s hashtagged "zodiacDNA", posted today…

I’m not familiar with this, what’s the gist?

Yes, dyslexia is probably my first undiagnosed language.

So we could be several months away from any further news on this case?

Has anyone’s suspects suddenly started acting strange or left the state / country…? :P

I wonder what is that relatively new piece of evidence on which DNA has been found :)

Amazed that some still consider ALA as possibly being Zodiac. But it’s all great news! If the real Zodiac is unmasked, let’s hope he’s still alive so he has to go through a trial.

Hi,

What was that all about? Today is like the morning after the night before. I thought the 2002 DNA announcement was a fiasco but yesterday was a cluster-(fill-in-the-blank). How is it conceivable that a police department or lab or whomever gives out stunning news to a person who is a webmaster and, oh yeah, happens to own a message board on the case and does not IMMEDIATELY tell him a) feel free to make this public or b) don’t you dare make this public? Shouldn’t such an admonition be the next words out of their mouths after mentioning the DNA?

Is it possible that VPD or the lab or whoever put out this alleged info didn’t think it might not immediately end up in the public domain?

I had sources working yesterday, too. They couldn’t learn a thing and one person in the loop of such things and whose name was mentioned yesterday said that if there were anything going on they would know about it. They SAID they knew nothing. Another key lab person alleged to be involved was out of town. Morf’s VPD source seems equally adamant that there are no new DNA developments.

Now unless there is a giant conspiracy after the fact of releasing the info and then trying to close the barn door, it seems that it might be best to wait for an "official" announcement.

And lest we forget the lessons of 2002, which I for one have not, how were these alleged stamps sampled? Did they completely eliminate the front? Do the two stamp DNA samples actually match? Based on what we all now should understand about the essential or complete absence of saliva on these letters, which we can sense is true because HAD there been saliva, they would have easily recovered DNA from these letters twenty years ago, as they did with the two forgeries, this seems like it is going to be a very low cell count DNA, like one or two cells. And the more sensitive the technique, when it get down to these levels, the most likely some contaminant could be picked up and amplified. So matching samples is going to be essential here. Like the Mueller report, there are a lot of questions right now lol that we have to have answered about this DNA.

There’s more going on than what you can see.

Riddle me this Bat Mike.

How is it conceivable that the Vallejo Police Department allows a webmaster (Tom) into its evidence room to examine original Zodiac letters including the 408 cipher?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWro0lJD6hE

If said Police department allows a websmaster into the evidence room would it not be inconceivable for a contact within the police department to leak a DNA update to said webmaster and for webmaster it to release the DNA news when he was not suppose to through a misunderstanding?

Batman says to Robin……"This explaination does not defy logic!"

Shawn,

Even a leaker at a PD should know whether or not the info should be kept on the DL or not lest they get in trouble if the PD goes on a hunt for said leaker within their ranks.

Simplicity,

Is that just your opinion or do you have some specific knowledge that supports that comment? Cryptic, knowing statements don’t really help, either.

Mike R., to use Machivelli’s style . . .

Either Tom was lying or he was not lying when he reported that he was told about new DNA developments by law enforcement. If he was lying, he has now burned relationships he spent two decades cultivating and will never get special access to information again. It seems unlikely that Tom would end his Zodiac career over something this small and petty. If Tom was not lying, then either the PD has new DNA or it doesn’t have new DNA. If it has new DNA then the information was released to Tom on purpose or it was released negligently. It seems unlikely that such an important piece of evidence would be released negligently (i.e., a drunken slip of the tongue). Thus, if the information were released to Tom on purpose, then the information is either true or it is not true. If it is not true, then PD must have some amazing piece if unknown evidence or some amazing hunch and they need the information to become public to provoke a reaction by their suspect. If it is true, then it was released by someone with authorization to release the info it was releaded by someone without authorization. If it were released by someone with authorization then, presumably, it wouldn’t be walked back. Thus, the best explanation is that the information is true, it was reported to Tom by someone eithout authorization to make such a report, and Tom reported it accuractely. I take Henry of Occam’s view on this one.
