My understanding is that they have entered the Bennalack DNA into the various crime databases with no matches, but about 18 months ago they entered it into GEDmatch.

Not sure that would be accurate, since the Deangelo breakthrough which kicked off LE using Gedmatch was only 14 months ago.

Also they would have had to procure a new profile to run atDNA through Gedmatch. They wouldn’t be able to use the same profile they ran through Codis (if they ever had one, which is dubious).

I believe that the infamous claim by Tom that they had a match and it was "game on" came in March, so take that for whatever it’s worth.

Tom didn’t say they had a match, he said he had been told they obtained DNA and it was about Vallejo, not Sacramento.

I’d really like to see this guy get caught. If my hunch and your hunch is right he’s killed a whole heck of a lot of people. Justice must be done.
My hunch was that he was young in his early 20s to about 25 and very reclusive. Probably spent most of his time reading and writing and fantasizing about being famous. He was probably made fun of in school and bad with the ladies. It’s very possible that he was a virgin at the time of the murders. I believe he knew he was insane and instead of seeking help he embraced it instead because he had finally found something that put him in control something he probably never had before. Because he knew what he was doing was wrong I’d imagine he’d be nervous, shaking and sweating during his murders but afterwards he’d feel powerful and proud that he actually went through with it. This would lead to a sense of confidence and would ultimately lead to the phone calls and letters and the attention that he so desired.
Just my theory on the guy. I’m still far behind most of you in my information on this man so I’m probably wrong lol. This site has a wealth of information and I’m happy that I did find it.

So, what happened to all that "I think my grand father was the Zodiac" stuff?

I believe I was wrong. I’ll admit that. Think he was more obsessed with zodiac then was the zodiac. Why he tried keeping that a secret for so long I do not know. He’s actually invited me to come look at what he’s got and I’m hoping to do that soon.
I was wrong. I’m sure you have all been wrong about something at one point or another. I’d like to be able to post my opinion and not get attacked for it please.

I don’t think it was ever publicly announced which agency had obtained DNA.

I didn’t attack you, I just asked about it. And if you look back through that thread, I told you from the start you might have been mistaken and your grandfather might have just been interested in the Zodiac case.

<It was Vallejo. No doubt.>

Right. And that announcement was essentially retracted, wasn’t it?

I wouldn’t say retracted. It has been questioned.

Where exactly shall be the proof that Vallejo is working on Z DNA, again?

No absolute proof that I know of.

Both Morf and Tom V have a connection to someone at VPD. If either of them say that they were told VPD is running another test, then I believe you can take that to the bank.

I have my own thoughts as to why they are running another test. One they have to be 100 percent positive that the last test and the new one produces the same result.

Or they have the result , the suspect has died and there are no family members alive? Perhaps they have to get DNA from the suspects body?

What if I have been correct all along and there really were two Zodiac’s working in tandem? That could slow everything way down, finding both!

I’ve had a bit of a think and my opinion is simply the following:

Nancy’s case and logically those committed in similar time, location and fashion are unrelated to the Zodiac by way of DNA evidence, the only saving grace is if blood found at the scene were planted by the killer or Zodiac or some other unforeseeable allowing for plausibility.

Now If the Sacramento rumor is true then from what crime or what (letter?) does this originate from?

Yes, dyslexia is probably my first undiagnosed language.
