I got a text this morning at around 10:30 from my mom (she delivers mail for the USPS) and she said I had a package in the mail. I knew it was a book that Seagull was loaning to me so I got excited. She called me a little later and asks if I had a cigarette because she was freaked out. She quit smoking 5 years ago so I wondered what the hell could have freaked her out. She said she’d explain when she got to my house.

So the police went to serve a murder warrant for this guy who lives about 3/4 of a mile west of my house. The guy just happened to be arriving at his house and noticed the police. He rammed a couple of cop cars and I guess there was a gun fight. My mom saw the whole thing and then a cop ran over and told her to get out of the area. This was just a block behind my son’s school and school was just letting out or about to get out, not sure what time this happened but his school gets out at 12:20 pm on Wednesdays. The guy got away somehow and they didn’t catch him until hours later. He broke into a house and hid in a closet. Not sure how they found him, but my neighborhood was a pretty crazy scene today! There were 3 helicopters flying over and really low to the ground for probably 6 or 7 hours until they caught the guy. My mom’s boss told her to come back to the office and she could throw today’s undelivered mail in with tomorrow’s mail, which is going to be a long day tomorrow for her. She gave me the package when she got to my house and told me what happened. The schools in the area were on lockdown and my other son was in daycare at the time, which was on lockdown as well. I got pretty scared so I called my ex and she said she was picking up the kids and she brought them to me about an hour later so I was glad they were safe.

The suspect has a very long criminal record and was out on bail. HEre’s the story…

Wow! That is scary. Glad everyone in the neighborhood (and your Mom) is ok.

Although, I must question the lady who let this man into her home because he had a gunshot wound! Maybe she should have asked who is shooting at you before saying, come on in!

Damn!
The cat brought home a mouse today, which was dead.
That’s it.
I like living over here, where it’s nice and quiet!

Nobody was home at the house he broke into. The news channels were trying to get my mom on the air and the police asked her if she would be willing to testify what she saw, but she said no to both. When I was getting home at around 5:30 the next morning, there were still news vans at the scene.

The article you linked said a homeowner let him into one of the homes. Just a dumb move. ;)

Hmmm I saw a lady on the news that said it was her house and that nobody was home. I’ll have to check into that.
