Normally I wouldn’t waste my time posting about a new JTR book, I’ve dipped in and out of the case over the years as I’m sure many here have, and it just doesn’t hold my attention for long – I much prefer cases where our websleuthing can still do some good and I’m not sure this case warrants the effort so many still give it.
That said, I came across this article about Bruce Robinson, one of the least-likely people I would have ever guessed going down this route – it’s the English equivalent of Woody Allen releasing a book on Zodiac (minus the questionable personal history). For those who know their films, he was the eccentric writer/director of Withnail and I, and is famed for his straight-talking and hatred of bullsh*t peddlers, so this kind of book is a real surprise….
I have not had a chance to read it but his interviews are worth a read just because he’s a funny man with a bit of a twist on the traditional theories. Is he right? As usual, probably not, but I bet it’s one of most intelligent and readable Ripper books out there.

Start’s off with classic Robinson:
‘I honestly think,’ Bruce Robinson says, ‘I’ve nailed the horrible f***er.’

Possibly entertaining, but it didn’t take much…it never does…to get me to say "Next!"
First he cites the debunked Freemason Conspiracy. Then he cites the debunked Ripper Diary. But it wasn’t that guy, it was his brother! OK. Sure.
