this guy disappeared from Stockton when wearing a Zodiac shirt…the celebrity card had been sent less than one year earlier, so this could possibly be a Z or Z copycat victim.

It’s a pity it’s not more specific. It says "A" Zodiac "sign" as opposed "The" Zodiac "symbol". To me that means one of the twelve traditional symbols of which the crosshair is not one.

ARE there even 12 "traditional" symbols? It’s a serious question. No one really considers astrology as a legitimate science.
