Yeah I’m familiar with the case. Didn’t somebody find a Polaroid picture on the ground of a young boy and girl bound and gagged that they thought may be him?

That’s what I was trying to remember last night. Dark headed girl. Gagged. In the back of maybe a covered truck? There is also something similar with another boy but can’t think of his name. He actually escaped. Later married but then ultimately killed himself. Very sad.

It was speculated that the girl in the photo might be Tara Calico and that the boy was possibly Michael Henley, a 9-year old who vanished on a camping trip in NM the previous year. However, Michael’s remains were soon found in the same area he originally went missing.

If you poke around on Google and search JOHNNY GOSCH BOUND, you will see a pic of a bound and gagged boy but somebody wrote it’s a hoax.

No. That’s the photo I was thinking of but obviously wrong about the back of truck mention. The boy who escaped was Steven Stayner. I was wrong about the suicide thankfully but still saddened to say that his life was lost due to a motorcycle accident. There are crazy people out there doing crazy things. These three cases are prime examples.

Yeah Adults missing or kidnapped, but when it happens to Kids, it’s especially disturbing & sickening. One case that has always haunted me is the case of Rachel Runyan, a 3 yr old taken in Utah in 1982.
Her case turns my stomach:

"Years later, a disturbing message was found in a bathroom of a market. The author claimed responsibility and suggested that the murder was part of a Satanic ritual or cult. Police believe that Rachel may have been videotaped in a "snuff film" and that she was molested, abused, tortured, and murdered in the film. Her murder remains unsolved."

Not too long ago, a lead surfaced in PA, but Cops wouldnt share info about ir.

The Johnny Gosch case led me down a very dark road which introduced me to many crimes I sometimes wish I’d never come across (the others mentioned above are two good examples). There is a very interesting documentary available on youtube by a British broadcasting company that ended up not showing the programme due to litigation fears – this far down the line many of its speculations have been proven true and it’s a good starting point for anyone looking to delve into this area of unsolved crime:

Much weight is given to a lot of the accusations as they are backed by a (I assume now ‘ex’) District Attorney called Jon DeCamp – I’m from the UK so not sure how well known he is over in the US but he seems to have worked very hard to make sure some of these evil people did not get away with everything they did.
This whole topic has in fact turned me away from true crime to a large extent, it is very emotionally draining compared to things like Z and I found the effects even more unhealthy to my psyche than the occasional Z-obsessions I’m sure we all have experienced.

I have been reading up on Tara Calico for the last month or so. I used to work with a cousin of hers when I first moved to NM. A police officer claims that Tara was killed by some kids in a truck, maybe accidentally, and the parents of those kids hid the body to cover up the murder.
