Here’s also a bigger image of the copy of the letter. From https://lancasteronline.com/news/local/arrest-in-mirack-murder-lifts-hopes-of-resolution-for-lindy/article_0282fd58-812d-11e8-ab35-7b3096d6b70e.html.

In my opinion there’s some interesting similarity in the words "she" and "see" to "sla" in the SLA letter.

Full Press Conference. Really informative on how they narrowed in on the suspect with the DNA obtained and even that had to be narrowed even further using genealogy then the old “get a coffee cup from the trash”.

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.

According to the handwriting, I’d say Z wasn’t the killer of Lindy Sue Biechler.

It seems like a hoax letter.  The killer, high on amphetamines, who develops broad insights about his moral culpability for the crimes only when he is using speed, falls asleep.  Then a friend, who is aware of the crimes, and would be an accessory after the fact, decides to secretly finish the letter, providing vague clues on how to possibly find the killer, but not give any actual identifying information, and then mail it without the killer seeing it—again, like the killer, urging the publication of the letter as the only way that all can be revealed when the writer could just as easily reveal everything, right then, in the postscript. . . .

Wonderful news! This has been one of those crimes that keeps me up at night wondering about it.

At 68 years old today (so d.o.b  circa 1954), the suspect’s age probably excludes him now as a zodiac suspect, and even more surely as the suspect in any pre-1969 potential Zodiac activity.

@jamesmsv So it is. It also shows that a Z connection to Lancaster / Pennsylvania is getting more unlikely. Z might very well have been only active in California.

Another case – Anna Kane – from Pennsylvania (interestingly a ‘concerned citizen’ letter writer was involved – a Z copycat..):

removed link

“It found that the DNA sample from the saliva of the person, who licked the envelope containing the letter addressed to the newspaper, matched with what was found on Kane’s clothing”
