Phyllis disappeared about the same day of Z’s Halloween card. She was found approximately one month later. Her case also happened only a few weeks after the ‘The Z is going to’ and the ‘Some of them fought’ communication of Zodiac, therefore during Z ‘high season’. She disappeared after visiting the Francis Truck Stop in French Camp on a Saturday night.

She called her family to tell ‘she was getting a ride home from a friend’ and she obviously had no car with her.
I wonder if possibly a barkeeper was involved here, too (‘George’)?
UPDATE: Her daughter has joined our forum and I guess she will introduce herself soon. Welcome.
UPDATE II: Found another French Camp homicide very close to Yettner Road at Matthews Road. First I thought this would be accidentially, however I looked at the map and found out that both, a hospital as well as the Sheriff’s office, is in this area, too.

The area of the crime is someplace over near the Johns scene. I would like to know, was Phyllis in the habit of taking rides from strangers? I am sure friends would have been closely looked at by police.
Also, is it possible she was having an affair? If possible with whom? Did she have any friends or connections in Vallejo?

As far as I know she had left with an ‘unknown man’. Would be interesting to read the police report about this guy and his appearance and/or car. She had no car, so she may have taken a ride with this guy. Phyllis’ relatives had considered that the man must have known the area, as Yettner Road was used to deposit highway construction trash (Interstate was built then). Although found 3-4 weeks later, the cause of death was not finally determined. Nevertheless, the autopsy report should somehow show up the cause of her death (obviously no gunshots).
If the man was ‘unknown’ it is rather likely that – although he may or may not have known the area – he actually was not from French Camp. Otherwise eye-witnesses would have known, recognized and remembered him, imo.
A point that is still unclarified is where the Francis Truck stop actually was. It could imply which direction her killer had headed (and maybe had continued) to.

Newfie,
do you know about the approximate distance between Phyllis’s home and the Francis Truck Stop? I wonder why she was there without any car..especially if it was too far away to walk home? Do you know with whom she had met during that night?
Can you remember any other man being involved during that time? And/or was she used to do some hitchhiking, or possibly other stuff such as boy-scout or church issues? Finally, do you know about any police reports e.g. regarding her disappearance OR the homicide itself?
Any information would help, thanks,
