Some assumptions regarding the Carol/Joe/Paul Stine and Vallejo connection:

If Z indeed had attacked Carol Stine, this might’ve been the connection between Paul Stine and Vallejo.

Obviously someone had scratched Joe Stine into his face. I guess, if not Paul by himself (which would make Joe being Z), that a girl scratched him when she was obviously angry about something Joe had done or had tried to do.

Did Joe Stine try to figure out who had killed Darlene Ferrin three months earlier? Or was he even accused for the murder of Darlene, therefore got scratched into his face?

A killer could possibly have erroneously killed Paul instead of Joe..but then – why the additional attack on Carol? There is something strange in here..if Carol had scratched Joe by herself, without any furthergoing reason, she might have been hiding the identity of Darlene’s killer even by herself.

I still see Joe as a prime suspect. Scratches in his face, car mechanic (was he?), reddish-blond clean-cut hair, same height, suspicious behaviour after his brother’s dead. And if not Joe, he or Carol (or the woman who had scratched his face) presumably know more about Paul and Darlene than they have ever told.

Some gossip, I know, but there’s definitely something wrong here.

There’s a thread where some people have proposed the possibility that the ‘discoloration’ on Joe’s cheek/or cheeks is scratches. I’ll try and find a link to it. I personally don’t think it’s anything at all. I think, as I’ve already termed it in this post, discoloration. He looks to have that sort of complexion that is slightly red and blotchy.

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.

It seems like a case of publicity hounds fighting over a "Z-bone"
like "The Zodiac was my dad" (check), "…my step-dad" (check), etc…

All this talk is bizarre. For all we know, Joe got that injury as a kid when he fell off his bicycle and faceplanted against some gravel.

Well, I did not know. Then, what was his or Carol’s or his Aunts or Pauls connection to Vallejo again? Maybe I just dont know yet..

Joe was listed in his step-fathers obituary as living in Vallejo in late ’68. Although, I’m not sure what that has to do with a possible scratch on Joe’s face. ??
