KJ said it was on the wall in the police station she was taken to.

thats what I thought…nothing done when it mattered and here we are..

I thought that too, but if she said her guy looked just like the composite of Zodiac, I don’t think there would be much variation. I think the composite would have influenced her thought process too much. I think more emphasis on his vehicle would have been nice, but it seems like what happened to her wasn’t made too public. I mean, we know it was in a couple of newspaper articles, but nothing like what we would experience with today’s social media.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

How did the supposed "lazy eye" come into the equation. Was that from Kathleen Johns? or is it just tales of the past.

Edit.no reply needed. just looked it up using the search mode on this site.

its too bad KJ has to suffer what appears to be a witness account that appears "tainted" due to the composite on the wall at the PD/SO..i still think KJ was with Z..my gut is LEO did not have any inkling Z was associated with what she went thru..nobody would have known really and what MO did they really have..homicide MO yes but not unlawful detainment/kidnapping (in regards to the KJ case)

From what we know of Zodiac he never kidnapped anyone or took people for rides in his car. I know many people will say he changed his ways, but a lot of those same people say he was scared he was almost caught. It seems odd for him to now resort to personal confrontations in his car.

Unfortunately, the only thing that linked Kathleen to Zodiac (aside of Zodiac claims months later–I am talking the physical stuff at the time) was her saying the guy in that composite looked like the man who took her for a ride. Apparently hair color didn’t matter either. It was a crew-cut and glasses that did it for her. That’s it!

She did say he had brown hair, like in a crew cut. she gave a lot of details about the scars he had , the band that held his glasses on, his clothes and car.She didn’t know the make of the car but that it was light in color.

His description and size was very close to the man that was thought to be Zodiac on Oct 11th 69.

She screamed when she saw the composite on the wall, I don’t think she would have done that if he didn’t look a lot like that .

True we never heard of Zodiac taking a victim for a ride, but then we never heard about many things that he did, that doesn’t mean he didn’t do them.

If he hadn’t written on the car door at Lake B or made that phone call , we would be saying that he only shot people in a blitz attack and would leave, he never spent time with his victims or stabbed anyone before, so that couldn’t be him.

As killers get away with their crimes they become more brazen, he showed this by spending more time with Cecilia and Bryan.

I found a person who told me a story about a friend of his in Napa early 1970’s, who caught a ride with a man in his mid 30’s. The man told the young man to remove his clothes, ( Less chance for him to run ? )as they drove over the Imola Bridge.
The young man realized how much the man looked like Zodiac and jumped from the car into the Napa river and got away.
Was this the Zodiac ? We don’t know , but then we don’t know that it wasn’t either.

The reason I do believe K John’s rode with Zodiac that night, is she described every scar I have seen on my suspects face , he is who I got away from in 1968. He even wore the clothes she said he had , so that I would know it was him when he came into my work. Later she picked out the same picture as I did of the suspect. The information he gave to her later, only the man she was with that night would have known, they were things that were not in any paper. It is too bad Paul Avery misplaced that Halloween card she was given and sent to him.

I tend to believe Isobel Watson had a close call with the Zodiac. Ken Narlow did as well. I also believe there are/were other attempts or crimes we can’t confirm. Probably because he didn’t write to take credit or those communications aren’t available to us. Too much is unknown to say he didn’t use this or thatm.o. definitively.

I agree KJ gave very detailed descriptions of the car. I think it unfortunate that her description wasn’t made available to the public.

In her recorded interview she actually said the car "WASN’T light" – (track 5). It was brown or gold—for sure not red, blue.

As far as the composite at the time, she would not have known hair color by the first visual impression and it would seem according to those men she eventually identified, they didn’t really jibe with what the teens or Fouke in SF saw (hair color wise). We know hair color is not worth too much debate though. We could go from albino blond to jet black and there always seems to be justification–a moot point really.

I don’t know what composite Kathleen saw on the wall–original or revised, but I don’t think it mattered much. I don’t think one would look at the revised composite and say "that’s him", but "nope–not the first one"…. :)

I think the interior light from the cab lit up during the teenagers observation. The boy went down stairs and watched from the darkness.
San Francisco also has street lights.

Very good, very good. Maybe that’s why the zodiac stopped his
activities for a while. I’ve read that theory on this site and I tend
to agree that zodiac got cautious after the Stine murder.

As far as kidnapping goes…. About a month after Cheri Bates’ murder, a young blond man gave a ride to a girl walking to UCR. He took her to Pigeon Point, and prepared to rape her. Luckily, she jumped out of his car and escaped. While picking her up, he said something like: "Don’t worry; I’m not the guy who killed that girl at the community college." Doesn’t mean it’s Zodiac, of course, but it’s still an interesting tidbit.
