Personally, however, I think that Zodiac was able to provide so much about the search because he watched it unfold from the safety of his car.

I’ve often thought that too and am very much in favor of it. I don’t think he watched anything though or at least not very much once the search got under way in earnest. Everything he describes, he ‘HEARS’. He says he’s ‘in cover’ and even the statement about what the police cars should have done ‘parked up’ and waited. Parked where? Well if they didn’t know where he was, which they didn’t then there’s only two possible places that make sense for them to do that. Where they last saw him or somewhere nearby where it makes sense to park. The latter being my preference since he claims he was ‘in the park’.

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.

Perhaps Z was an estate agent and simply unlocked and walked into a property he had the keys to.

Okay, got some questions. Figured this was as good as place as any.

1 – Any clue why z would be wiping down the drivers side door?
2 – Did anyone ever talk to the Peda guy that was Pelissetti’s partner?
3 – How do Pelissetti and Foulke not pass each other somewhere on Jackson? Something not right here.
4 – If the guy walking the dog was Mr. X, did he have reddish-blonde hair at the time? All the photos I’ve seen of him look like he has dark hair.
5- Is there any more police reports out there somewhere other than the 2 pages?

Thanks. Sorry if this stuff has already been asked and answered somewhere.

I think one possible answer to question one is that when Zodiac hailed Paul’s cab and Paul stopped, Zodiac may have walked up to the drivers side and spoke to Paul through his drivers window and put his hands on the drivers side door while leaning speaking to Paul.

That makes sense.

Which means it’s probably wrong. (kidding)

Or maybe he had a police radio/scanner he listened to.

Is that possible?

Also, Zodiac wrote letter after letter to the press in his own hand.

I wouldn’t assume that either! I see no reason why anyone with a brain would write those letters in their "usual" and therefore recognisable, handwriting. lol

That wasn’t what I mean, nor was it the point. My fault for wording in that way. What I meant by ‘Zodiac wrote letter after letter in his own hand was that he used pen and paper to communicate with police & press, and not via typewriter. The handwriting of ‘Zodiac’ was, if he was going out of his way to disguise his normal handwriting, very consistent and was fairly easy to recognize as ‘His’. That was the point I was trying to make. Zodiac didn’t ever use a typrwriter, I was always via hand and. whether disguised or not, was always consistent enough to be recognizable as having been authored by Citizen Z.

And maybe he had access to a police scanner.

Whether Zodiac viewed the search or simply was able to listen to it (the sound of the responding vehicles etc) isn’t really important. What is important to establish, if possible, is if he was there in the area to be able to see or hear the search, or whether he got the information of the search from somewhere else. We know that Zodiac isn’t slow in responding to Officials when they publically state that they don’t believe him or demand more evidence. "In answer to your asking for more details about the good times I have had in Vallejo, I shall be very happy to supply even more material" he replied when hi involvement in LHR was questioned. And this time he’d claimed in his Oct 13 letter that he was in the park, which Chief Lee had refuted and called Zodiac A Liar. He responded to this with the same attitude of being happy to supply more material about the search.
One possible theory to his whereabouts which could explain him only hearing the search vehicles is that he was in the back garden/yard of 3712 Jackson. This could be argued for based on several known facts.

1. It is the last known place that Zodiac was seen, with Don Fouke stating that he last viewed the suspect turn onto the driveway of 3712 Jackson.
2. Zodiac would have needed to be close to West pacific Av. to hear the responding vehicles, the rear of 3712 backs right onto W. Pacific Av.
3. There is fence that would obscure Zodiac’s view of W.P.A but would be the ideal location to enable him to hear it, without him being seen.

Below is a photo of the front view of 3712 Jackson, and a gate can clearly be seen allowing access to the rear.
