My letter to Sheriff Bill Brown of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department is on its way requesting a release of the early case files to the public in the Robert George Domingos and Linda Fay Edwards murder case. The case will be fifty years ago on June 4, 2013. I made my case that this is the only murder in the possible or actual Zodiac murder cases not to be released. The killer who is likely no longer alive or who is at least in his 70’s has escaped detection for fifty years. Help in identifying this person can come from additional eyes looking at the evidence. We will see what the sheriff and his homicide team decide. He may wish to seek the feelings of the family. Thanks for the help many of you gave when I made my initial request about this subject last year. As you know, my documentary is now a part of the official Santa Barbara County cold case file on this couple.

That’s good info John. Good luck, I hope that you are successful in getting the info released

What Morf said!
Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the murder of Robert George Domingos and Linda Fay Edwards. I wrote the Sheriff of Santa Barbara County about releasing case files about the murder and have not had a reply as of this date. I want to honor the memory of my two friends and encourage everyone to remember them on this significant date in history. They were wonderful people and must not be forgotten. Thank you to every one on this forum for all you have done in their memory and for keeping their case in the public memory. I want to identify their killer. Rest in peace Bobby and Linda.

Mr Averitt, your continued and dogged pursuit of answers in respect to this heinous crime is to be highly commended. Let’s hope justice is served at some point.
I’ve two questions to bother you with, if you don’t mind.
Is there any more specific information available about that gun shop in Santa Barbara, that also stocked material from that same batch of ammunition?
Secondly, was it confirmed that the attacker at Gaviota Beach tried to bind Robert and Linda, or had materials with which to do so?
My very best regards to you.
50 years is way too long to not have closure

Smithy,
The store in Santa Barbara that sold the same lot number of the ammo found at the crime scene was identified but the state sales tax stickers were included on the boxes that were sold at that store. The boxes found at the crime scene did not have those stickers just like the boxes sold at Vandenberg Air Force Base. The store is long out of business now. The cord used to bind Bobby and Linda was identified and Bobby and Linda did have their hands bound but escaped from those bindings. Just think, 50 years ago tonight they were both lying there in the shack dead and missing. It was not until 50 years ago tomorrow that Bobby’s father and cousin found them along with State Trooper Paul Shultz.

Mr Averitt, thanks for that prompt reply. I wonder if a killer could and would have removed the sales tax stickers before leaving those boxes?
Thanks also for the information about the bindings – that’s a detail which has been denied here and there, for some reason.
Re: "50 years ago tomorrow …. Bobby’s father and cousin found them along with State Trooper Paul Shultz" – Awful. What a truly terrible and grisly discovery. Again, let’s hope "the truth will out".
As most of you know I wrote Sherriff Brown of Santa Barbara County in California before the 50th anniversary of the murders of this couple on June 4th of this year and requested a limited release of the police files of this case. None of the files have ever been released to the public. I have not heard back from the Sheriff as of this date. Just an update for this forum.
John B. Averitt
Disappointed to hear that but thank you for the update, Mr. Averitt
When in doubt, don’t.

Thank you John B. Averitt,
Thank you for trying & caring! And thank you for the update. It seems the least the Sheriff could do is answer you, maybe try again?
Sincerely, Zam*
