I’m assuming that would be enough for everyone to agree he killed her, but would it be enough for you to move him to the top of your Zodiac suspect list given that, the sketch, similar handwriting, etc?

you are assuming they have Ross`s dna
I’m not. I’m hopeful one of his relatives that has talked about him would help out if LE asked them.

Yes. Because if he killed Cheri that means he wrote the letters too. Then he was in north when someone was killing girls (mostly) and writing letters. It would be too much of a coincidence.

Best news I’ve heard in a long while.
I don’t think the evidence is great for any of the known suspects. But I do like Ross more than some others.
Having proof that Ross killed CJB would certainly make him a better suspect, since it would show that he was capable of murder.
However, I’d still need evidence linking him specifically to the Zodiac crimes, such as DNA that is compatible with that from the stamps, to be relatively certain he was Z.
So while DNA from CJB’s pants would move Ross up a few spots, it wouldn’t be enough to put him unequivocally at the top.

Wait, why does it follow that the person who killed Cheri Jo also wrote Zodiac letters??
What special knowledge did the Cheri Jo killer have that appeared in Zodiac letters?

It just means that this would establish his M.O. being killing and writing letters. That’s exactly what the Zodiac did.

What evidence is there that the person who killed Bates also wrote letters?
Whoever killed her mailed in a confession and described details no one else would know. Then mailed multiple cards that were very similar to Zodiac cards.
Much energy and valuable time has been wasted in proving–or disproving–whether Zodiac killed Cheri Bates. Her murder, vicious as it was, deserves solving apart from any Zodiac connection. IMO, the correlations between her murder and Zodiac’s subsequent rampage are too close to be ignored; but, then, I’m an ardent exponent of Occam’s Razor.
Again IMO, we’d be better off concentrating on Cheri’s murder. There is an abundance of evidence available, even without RPD’s help, which has been virtually non-existent. Question: is there an agency one could present such evidence to, or does RPD have that route blocked?

"Details no one else would know"? That’s a pretty bold claim.
What exactly were these details available only to the killer that were not in this letter?
Indeed, if anything, it seems the letter writer far more stuff wrong (like only two stabs wounds) than right.

Yeah, the confession letter included details all available in the local papers. No reason that whomever wrote it was her killer

I could’ve missed it, but I don’t recall seeing an article that mentioned him breaking the knife. Again, could’ve missed it.
