Elaine Louise Davis was found near the lighthouse, about one mile west of Ross’ Santa Cruz address. She was from Walnut Creek near Vallejo.

QT

She was missing a button or buttons as I recall, and z wrote a letter soon afterwards mentioning wearing buttons hmm

We should coordinate on a little list of who to contact, and go down the list to make sure people are not being contacted multiples times, etc.

I don’t think this article has been posted. We know about the incident though. Ross is not named but it is clear who the person is in the article.

What about historians, and the like also. Obviously I can’t walk in but I can call and email places in CA. I wrote last week to the Riverside historian/genealogist but have heard nothing back, but if anyone lives near there, it could be worth a looksy. And if it would prove helpful, develop a list of things to look for and check, (if someone missed my earlier post), historical societies have files of organizations in their area, including the Y. I know some of his movements are known, but to solidify things would be beneficial.

I also have his mother’s death cert on order, and will post when it comes. I am not looking for a possibility of murder, maybe suicide, but some info I gleaned in Binghamton from the historian made me curious (all supposition at this point so I have not posted it yet). And I more than happy to work on a timeline from all the brother’s births to family locations, through leaving Binghamton and the northeast.

JMHO- on why going back can help going forward is somewhat twofold from what I have seen on the show Cold Justice (real life cold cases being solved).

1) People may have been afraid years ago to come forward, even with the slightest bit of information.
2) Not that Ross dated?, but his brothers did, and a bad break up can lead to someone now wanting to share info.

Obviously getting Ross into the right locals is important, or with a way to get there (vehicle), but don’t underestimate what people may have seen, felt, or even witnessed that years later could lead to that one clue we need, especially if he later p!s$ed someone off.

Good find there! Seems this guy would have been born around the same year as the two guys in the other article. So that’s 3 young guys at that address who had been arrested for burglary. I wonder who else lived there or if Ross was friends with any of them.

Bruce Howard Clayton was living in Aptos in August 1974.I believe he now lives in Royal Oaks, CA.

Just a thought, don’t know if it’s been suggested before…

This is the sort of incident that would be the talk of playgrounds at the local schools. You know, 10-13 year old kids gossiping about the local weirdo and the "nude cavorting" incident. And it wouldn’t surprise me if there were other Ross incidents, and gossipy tales about him going around the local kids’ grapevine.

Might be worth contacting alumni of the local schools at that time. They’d still be young enough now (60-ish) to recall some things about the strange local man, perhaps, and names of who he knew and other things.

Not a bad idea. I just posted a thread about Ross on this message board… http://www.topix.com/forum/city/santa-cruz-ca

In January 1969, a couple of guys who also lived at 512 2nd St were arrested for possession of stolen property and auto burglary. Ross’ roommates???

Charles Henning died in 2004 and I can’t find anything on Douglas Peters yet. If he is alive, somebody should try to contact him and ask him if he knew Ross.

There are 2 Douglas Peters the right age. One is Douglas A. Peters who would today be 65,he lived in Encinitas & Oceanside, CA. He is dead. The other is Douglas W. peters who has lived in Santa Ana, Anaheim, and Placentia. He is alive. Neither of these seems to have known addresses in Santa Cruz
