The primary info and sources concerning Ross are all scattered all over the place, so I tried to organize them a little into this timeline:

Let me know what I’ve left out!

Excellent work!
You might want to include the LA Times article about the film as well:

It would also be better to source the photos and articles from this site, since all of this information is originating here. (and not link to sites with video game ads)
Thanks; I’ve added the article to the timeline.
That’s all I could wish for doranchak! Really excellent.
I can’t open these Evernotes: "Death certificate, page 1, page 2. Last Occupation: Dish Washer (duration: 2 years). Type of business: Restaurant."
Thanks for reporting that, Jarlve. I updated the links.
Also a mental conservatorship around 1973-1974. Can’t find the source…
Then he seemed to move back to Santa Cruz around 1974.
The source appears to be the private investigator:

Morf’s summary puts the conservatorship year at 1973:
I’ll add that to the timeline (with the caveat that it is not yet well-sourced).
"We verified that Ross was a paranoid schizophrenic" <== how was that determined?
I always wondered who ran the Zodiac ciphers site. I always refer people to check that site out first before any message board to familiarize themselves with the details of the case. Great site Dave.
A few minutes ago on a toilet not very far, far away….
1) Worth noting something else that no one seems to mention. Ross seems to leave Riverside shortly after the Confession Letter. After Ross moves to Santa Cruz in 1967, Riverside Zodiac letters stop forever. If this was a copycat, letters still stop. Kind of the other end of the gaps in the bay area letters.
2) Ross moved from Riverside to Santa Cruz. If he was Z, he would need to have some connection to Vallejo/Napa that started in 1968. It would make a lot of sense that it was his arrest around 2/68, that sent him to Napa State Hospital (for a short say, or on and off treatment). Agnews is a bit more serious. He was probably sent there in Dec 1970, since that seems to be when his mental health really starts to deteriorate and matches up well with the gap in letters from 1971-1974.
his breakdowns could have been precipitated by guilt.
he was obviously raised as a Christian. then throw in a good
dose of fear over getting caught. those two things alone
would be enough to make most anybody have a breakdown.
Paul, this is a long shot but… that newspaper article of the two guys being busted that I posted in another thread had ties to a town a little north of Vallejo. I forget which town, but if the one guy can be contacted that might help. One guy is dead as of 2004 and I can’t find the other guy. But the lived at the same address as Ross but a different apartment I would assume. Maybe Ross was friends with these guys.

‘If’ Zodiac wrote the RCC desk poem & Bates letters, and then moved to the SF bay area after the 1967 Bates letters, and started the Z crimes, then we know he was in the RCC Library, and we know what he looked like from the Stine sketch. Realistically, how long a list is it of Guys that looked just like the sketch, were in the RCC Library, and then headed north after the 67 Bates letters?? A very short list we can assume, which is why Ross is so appealing and worth looking at until we can rule him out completely.

and if he was in the library that night, knew who she was and the
car she drove, wouldn’t it seem he went out and pulled the coil wire
and then waited for her?

If the confession letter writer was really Cheri’s killer, he places himself in the library that night….IF he is telling the truth
