Great work Seagull! I never realized Bonnie was living in SF before Canada.
Closest major college to where Bonnie was living is USF.
It’s worth noting that USF is home to the Presentation theater. The Mikado played there around the time of the Stine murder. Z mailed 2 letters after it’s run ended, but mailed nothing during the run. (Yellow Book pg 156)
Z was seen by the cops walking down Jackson in the direction of Bonnie’s old address, but there are some big hills in the way, so not a likely escape route.
Good stuff Seagull, not sure when they went to Canada

Bonnie’s address: 2361A Jackson St
Fouke — We turned West on Jackson Street. As we approached Maple Street, I noticed, on the North side of the street, a white male adult, dressed in a Derby, or three-quarter, waist-length jacket with elastic at the waist and on the cuffs, and regular flap-down collars. He had a crew cut, he was wearing rust-colored, pleated trousers, which were unusual for the time. He had on engineering-type boots, low-cut shoe, three-quarters of the way in length, tan in color. The initial radio description of the suspect was that of a black male, 5’10" or something like that. Seeing that it was a white male in an affluent neighborhood, walking along the street, we didn’t think it was a suspect. So we proceeded to the next block, which was Jackson and Cherry. Turned southbound on Cherry Street, saw Armond Pelissetti, one of the officers who had responded directly to the scene.
The distance from 2361A Jackson St to the intersection of Jackson and Maple is 1.2 miles: @37.7912003,-122.4539667,15z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x8085872fd723f691:0x80003a65f9458b4c!2m2!1d-122.4557167!2d37.7897769!1m5!1m1!1s0x808580c5c3b07f97:0xec8b4b82d6b92c6!2m2!1d-122.433763!2d37.792299″> https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Jackson … d37.792299
(Also, 2361 Jackson St is about 1.1 miles from her later 1370 California St. address)
On a whim I looked for Bonnie Bartlett in the 1967 San Francisco Polk’s Directory. I’m not entirely certain when the directory was compiled but surely it would have been sometime in the last half of 1966. Since I was able to find a listing for her, it was probably before she and Tim married. This gives a different address than the one on the marriage license, as a matter of fact it’s on Jackson St about 14 blocks from the Stine crime scene.
The marriage license says that Bonnie was a student though it does not say which school or college she was attending. Everything is relative, while college may not have cost too much in 1966 or 67 it still would have cost enough that someone might think twice about leaving before the semester was finished. Do we know when Bonnie and Tim left for Canada?
I recall Gerald saying that they moved to Canada in summer of 1967. They were married in October of 1966. She graduated high school (Ramona) in June 1966. That narrows the dates somewhat.

USF was also where Cheri’s fiance/boyfriend Dennis Highland was going to school in 1966-67.
Wouldn’t Katz have mentioned Ross living at Bonnie’s old apartment? Or living with Tim and Bonnie?

Why do you think Ross lived in Bonnie’s old apartment? Bonnie and Tim were gone by summer of 67 when we know Ross was about to go to school at UCSC. I assume Ross lived in that Santa Cruz apartment on 2nd street beginning in September of 67.
As for the USF mentions. I was only suggesting that if Bonnie went to USF, which we don’t even know she did, in 1966-67, then Dennis Highland went to school there that same year. We know Cheri visited Dennis about two weeks before she was murdered.
At the time though, Ross was still living in Riverside, CA.
I know of no evidence that Ross had lived in any of Bonnie’s apartments in San Francisco.
it would seem possible he visited there however. it would have
been a way for him to become familiar with that area.

I could see a situation where they would let him if they had a longer lease, and didn’t want to stay. Maybe they would think it would be more affordable for Ross?? But there is no evidence where Ross lived in SF,if he ever lived there at all

There is here say evidence. Katz and or Tim said Ross lived in Santa Cruz and SF.

Ya, I get that, but presumably they left in summer of 67. Ross was in Santa Cruz at least until Feb-March (and likely a little longer) 1968.
I think it’s possible that he visited his brother and wife in summer of 67, before they left for Canada. Maybe helped them move? But I can’t see him living there. I think that’s a stretch.
and my point is just by visiting, even just for a brief period,
he would have started to become familiar with the area. i don’t think
the YMCA was more than a mile and a half away.
On a whim I looked for Bonnie Bartlett in the 1967 San Francisco Polk’s Directory.
Question about the listing. It has an h before the address which I was told usually means owns the house, r is for a renter. I suppose it could have evolved with time, maybe to be head of household if she was the primary leasee? Does your Polk have an explanation of abbreviations? (or its a typo, those directories are impressive). And it does look like other apartment names have h with them also. Too bad it didn’t list her "job" if it was student.

The problem when solved will be simple– Kettering
Never mind, I found it, H is for householder, not renter. So does the plot thicken? Or was it a typo?
Edit: looked at criss cross-
Who is Ronne? Family?

Since 2361 & 2361a both have last name, Bartlett, could it be that a Relative owned the home and it was a duplex?
