Ok,
some thoughts about the new board style..first thanks to Morf and all who help to keep this amazing board running.
Nevertheless I had the feeling that the new board is in some parts better than the old one, in some parts not. All smaller programming issues, but now I figured out ‘why’:
1. In this board, it is very important to see WHO is posting. I know that this information is there, but to me it appears as – compared to the old board – the avatar is now on the right side instead of the left. I do think this is not so comfortable as you first get the content, then see who had written it. It IS a difference if a message comes from Morf, Traveller or Sandy or not. And: In the reply mode, the avatars show up on the left in the text part (maybe only in the old message board’s part?), which really confuses again.
2. The reply mode: In the old board, this one was very clear – different colors (was it white?) on much lighter blue ground of the answering post, same text size but with much smaller quotation marks (in the new board they are almost bigger than the text..). Here it seems to be differentiating between light blue and dark blue backgrounds, irritating many lines between the posts, darker background and smaller text.
3. Font type..it’s a nice one but not the fastest to read, any possibility to change it? Just a detail but also the bold text is not as easy to discover like it was in the old board. Also the font color selection is killing my creative brain..also as you can see, bold + color leads to strange symbols in the text..
4. Bigger issue again is the ‘marked’ messages…the posts you haven’t read yet appear to be read – like in the old message board. If you read them and click ‘back’ in your browser however, they still show up as read…that was different in the other board..you clicked them, read, go back and it its marked as read (therefore nor red anymore). Here all posts are marked red UNTIL you refresh your browser [/b]after you clicked back to the menue…that’s tough. Oh and another thing: In the old board you were directed automatically to the newest page (1,2,3..etc.). Here if you click to read the unread message, you end up on page one. If you then go back, refresh it’s still red because you haven’t been on the newest page of the board..
5. Oh and the avatars…hard to impossible to load them up. Average user has to find a way to incredibly decrease the pic size from usually 2.5mb to 6kb (0.24%!!!). I’m not very much into graphics, but it took me a while and my avatar is still very small imo (in reality I’m 6’5”…).
6. Confirmation page…’This message has been edited successfully’….is it possible to leave that one away? Like just refreshing the board page? It just takes everybody with every post 1-3 seconds of waiting..
To me it took a while to realise what in fact is irritating, but I hope I could help to improve things, thanks againt to Morf and all the people in the internet 3.1. Everything else is nice, some advantages indeed as well. I’d appreciate a section with a file system, too. Where envelopes, letters etc. can be stored according to a chronological order..

I understand some of your concerns, most though are just a matter of getting used to the change. I don’t know why we humans are so resistant to change at times, I know I’m guilty of it , too.
Yes there are pluses and minuses with this new format but sometimes you need to weigh your needs and compromise a little to get the biggest bang for the buck!
If, instead of clicking your back icon, you click "Board Index" or the title of the topic you are on, it will take you back to where you came from and the red markers will not be red any longer. Also there is now a link under the last post in the thread to take you back to the topic page so that you no longer need to scroll to the top to go back. The old forum did not have that and it’s a feature I like.
I’m not crazy about the poster information on the right either but I’m getting use to it. One thing that I think it will do is keep the posts from becoming extra wide when some one puts up a large image. That scrolling back and forth to read a post on the old board annoyed me.
Bottomline….. you’ll get used to it!!!
Maybe I’m wrong, but I think this board is a preprgrammed template, so most of those things can’t be changed by the admins.
You can change the font size in your posts, but not the font. You should however be able to do that in your browser settings if you have such a preference.
Why do you need both bold and colored fonts at the same time? It probably shows the error because these two features were not designed to be used together.

That can be done, but it will take time. You can copy & paste each one of your posts in order & post. That way everything is in order. Anyone can help do this with their or any posts.
