Think it’s pretty wild my POI may have worked with Joseph Bates at Lockheed. Sorry to hijack the topic and anything new on the Eureka card ?
So did the wife of another POI.

When did Bates work there? There’s a lot of info about what companies he worked for. But not necessarily where and when.

Yea timeline matters and my POI had to work there in the early 60’s or mid I think as a wing walker. He got a couple thousand dollar pension from Lockheed in the 80’s that he drank it all up.
I’ve also always wanted to know how he was ruled out. It does seem hushed up by the people that found him.
Are you being serious? His DNA didn’t match and I posted that info more than a decade ago.
If his DNA did not match long ago, (that DNA is flawed according to Mike R ) could he be ruled out with certainty?
Also, anyone know how the photo of his keys came to be in the possession of the person that mailed the photo of the keys? Also, anyone seen any ties for this family to McKinleyville 13 miles from Eureka?

Tom V. led the investigation into Kringel, but he has been reluctant to reveal much about it for reasons known only to himself. Perhaps, you can convince him to share info on that investigation with you privately, Morf.

If he has not shared so far, I do not think he will share with me. I know where his daughter lived, just trying to see when/if he lived in Eureka, and if there is a known explanation of how someone would have had a photo of his keys. How about it Tom?

What goes hand I hand with buying a house, insurance ?
What goes hand I hand with buying a house, insurance ?
Intuitively, I like this connection.
Someone linked a Google map of everywhere Chester Clark Klingel lived or worked over on Tom V’s forum. I can’t speak to its provenance, but it appears roughly correct. For some reason it mentions Klingel in relation to Humboldt County Superior Court (825 5th St, Eureka, CA 95501, United States). I’d like to inquire why.
He did own a property in Rio Vista southwest of Vacaville/Fairfield, but post-1997.

It perhaps misses out a family address on 1045 Lake St. nr. the Presidio and a later address 2428 Union St, which I’m trying to confirm, atm.

Chester seems to have also dealt in property and was perhaps a landlord. Therefore, he might not have resided in all the properties he owned. It’s unclear to me.
Hmmm interesting
I talked to someone else today who has been researching the places that Klingel lived for a while. He seemed sure that, for a "good many years" Chester resided at 366 Marin Ave, Mill Valley, CA 94941. This was between ’61-’74, before moving to Turlock to farm in around ’75. The Marin Ave address is 0.2 miles (5 mins walk) from the bus stop at the bottom of Pine Hill Rd, where Isobel Watson likely got off before being run down and attacked. I’m taking a guess that the bus stop hasn’t moved.
I’ll keep digging and see if I can find some records to confirm this.

I followed up with the woman who originally found this connection to the Klingel family, but she said it’s likely that these properties belonged to Chester’s father, who shared the same name. It’s a bit confusing since three generations of Klingels are all called Chester.
Chester himself had some bad luck it seems, his first and second wives were killed in car accidents and then in 1986 his son similarly died in a crash. It’s likely however that Chester Klingel III, who was a Marine, is the one with the link to Camp Pendleton and Oceanside, on account of Pendleton being a USMC bootcamp. During the 60s Chester Snr. lived in the Bay Area, working for North American Aviation and so, didn’t have links to So. Cal.
The obituary mentions that Chester’s "second marriage was short". However, I did discover was that while Klingel was living at 366 Marin Ave, Mill Valley between ’61 and ’74, his third wife Blandina originally lived at 209 Cardinal Rd., Mill Valley, only a 10 minute or so walk away. She lived there with her first husband Eshmael Sarkis. When Chester and Blandina married and moved to the Turlock to start a walnut farm and hulling business, of the children, they only took Sandra to live with them, while the other children from previous marriages (Candy, Chester III & Kim) stayed behind.
The person that told me this, surmises that while living in Turlock, Chester possibly owned a trucking concession linked to his walnut hulling business, and so perhaps had business concerns in Eureka. This might be why he kept a PO Box there, before moving to the location in ’93. Similarly, Sandra’s husband Lars Zebroski had a milling business up in Eureka, and perhaps they had overlapping interests. Eventually, Klingel did sell one of the two houses he owned in Eureka to Sandra at a later date, before buying the house in Rio Vista, which was sold after his death in 2017.
Andrew I’d like to start with your research on this topic is impressive. Running things down is no easy job.
However I have an issue with the premise of this research.
A lot of people, myself included, don’t know how this guy got dragged into this. Tom has promised us that he would explain it on his own time. I would hate to see you waste countless hours researching an individual who has apparently already been checked out by LE. (?) Maybe asking Tom for some history on this topic would be helpful.
Tom, any word on when you’re ready to explain the connection between Sam and the keys? I was hoping that it was in the book. Did I miss it? It might save this guy some time, and others, by running down this fruitless rabbit hole.

Tbh it’s just collating what various other people have researched.

Yeah, I don’t think he was a suspect, but I do think Zodiac did attempt to purposefully sully him.
So, I’m highly curious as to why he was implicated by the Eureka Card (quite clumsily) and how it was that his keys ended up potentially in possession of Zodiac. Part of this mystery, pertains to the fact the card was sent in ’90, yet CCK didn’t move to Eureka until ’93, after his wife as killed in a tragic accident. It’s all very strange.
I think that’s why above, Cragle is suggesting that perhaps Chester crossed paths with Zodiac through some kind of property or insurance dealings (if I read the inference correctly).
I see. It’s an interesting angle, and a very long road ahead.
Tom you own this.
