The Strawberry Alarm Clock, Incense & Peppermint. 1969
Good sense, innocence, cripplin’ and kind.
Dead kings, many things I can’t define.
Oh Cajun spice, sweats and blushers your mind.
Incense and peppermints, the color of thyme.
Who cares what games we choose?
Little to win, but nothing to lose.
Incense and peppermints, meaningless nouns.
Turn on, tune in, turn your eyes around.
Look at yourself, look at yourself,
Yeah, yeah.
Look at yourself, look at yourself,
Yeah, yeah,
Yeah, yeah.
Tune-a by the cockeyed world in two.
Throw your pride to one side, It’s the least you can do.
Beatniks and politics, nothing is new.
A yardstick for lunatics, one point of view.
Who cares what games we choose?
Little to win, but nothing to lose.
Good sense, innocence, crippled and kind.
Dead kings and many things I can’t define.
Oh Cajun spice, sweats and blushers your mind.
Incense and peppermints, the color of thyme.
Who cares what games we choose?
Little to win, but nothing to lose.
Incense, peppermints, incense, peppermints.
Sha-la-la, sha-la-la….

Hey y’all! My music tastes are all over the board, lol. My heart belongs to The Beatles but I also love The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and classic Rod Stewart (think, Every Picture Tells A Story). This is the type of music I listen to the most but when I’m cleaning house and need to get super motivated I listen to old school hip/hop or rap…can’t believe I’m admitting this If I’m in a country-ish mood I love Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt but when I listen to them it only makes me want to learn how to 2-step all the more…I’m a Texas girl through and through yet I never learned the 2-step but I’m young and still have time to learn! Yee haw
After looking through all of the letters, photos and posts on this site I truly believe that every picture tells a story so here is some classic Rod Stewart –

The Castaways "Liar Liar" from a bikini beach movie.
Why does a ladie’s voice come out of the lead singer? Whats up with the drummer? Why are they inside a whale or shark? Red bikini…
This is fantastic…

That bikini girl needs a tan.. Seems a little risque in the 60’s for a scantily dressed girl to be dancing like that and be front and center.

Don’t know if this counts as expressing myself but I picked up my new glasses today and I when for a slightly more rounded, retro look that my previous rectangular ones. It has just occurred me though that they are quite ‘Zodiactastic’ lol. They are slightly larger than you would think from the image here when they are on so they are quite similar in size to the ones depicted in the composite.
I’ll take a photo of them on later in the week. I’ve lent my camera to a friend for photographing a wedding midweek.
I’ll play along Mine will be the greatest psychedelic song of the 60’s Journey to the center of your mind

Oh and why not, a little brownstone since I’m learning to play both of these at the moment.
On that note, I’ve built a Les Paul copy. I started with the body bought off Ebay and then purchased the rest from the same. It’s built now and playable but still needs some refining such as filing down the nut to the right height and refinishing the frets. It is, at the moment, unbranded. I was considering several different options including some contrived moniker involving my own name. I was however considering dedicating it to Cheri Jo Bates and giving it Her name. I would like to know what you guys think. Would that be a nice thing to do or would it be inappropriate and cheap?

I think it’s nice that you would consider naming your guitar after Cheri Jo. I guess it would depend on whether or not you were going to put her name on it and if so, where. I’m thinking that your friends or others might ask why you’ve named the guitar after Cheri, which would lead to your explaining who Cheri was and possibly getting into the whole Zodiac saga. That whole scene might be more than you’ve bargained for.
If, however, you were discreet about putting the name somewhere that was not obvious you could probably avoid the questions.
À La Claire Fointaine:
This version is quite nice. The woman singer may have learned it phonetically as her French is rather odd, but it only adds to the song’s beauty. In my opinion, this is the nicest version I have heard.
The song originated, from what I understand, in New France (Quebec) in the 1600’s. It is sometimes included in collections of children’s songs, because of the simplicity of the tune, but it is popular with adults, and the theme is on adult love.
Take care,
G
