Saw this on Yahoo today: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/th … 12093.html

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

Not sure why grandma had to go all Zodiac on her family but my guess is that this is not so much a code but more or a shorthand message using only the first letter in each word. Kinda like internet abbreviations, IMHO. :)

TYAGF makes a lot of sense as Thank You Almighty God For… in ending the letter. There are probably a number of other short portions that could be determined but I think we would really need to know the woman to figure out what she would want to communicate. Her family would probably have a lot better shot at figuring out what other portions might be conveying.

Agree and I think TYAGF is exactly that. TYAGFE – E being everything as another example.

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.

Looks like Grandma Zodiac’s cipher has been at least partially cracked by internet sleuths. If anyone knows any internet sleuths, please ask them to take a look at the 340 cipher.

I’m good with ciphers, but as an atheist, I’m afraid I’ll be no help on this at all. I just wouldn’t have it in me.

Thanks for the laugh! Funny…

I’m surprised Grandma went that route. It’s almost witchy.

And thank you Entropy!

For some real family cipher fun, I think Grandma should have written her will in the form of a cipher and, upon her death, family members would be given a copy of the Inheritance Cipher at her funeral. First family member to find the correct solution receives 100% of Grandma’s inheritance.

I like it! I will have to remember this….in case I have a large estate one day. ;)
