My brain either loves me or hates me. I’m undecided. Maybe it was both and all at the same time.

So. I’ve had a relatively icky day healthwise. My eyes were sore, I was sore, my head was foggy and my emotions were very unsettled. A bit of a non-day all round. Just wasn’t feeling myself mentally or physically. Par for the course sometimes unfortunately and more so given my eye problems on top of my usual problems. Also been having trouble getting a proper sleep recently too so in a way it looked like something useful might come out of it because I was pretty exhausted.

11pm. Lets go to bed. I usually know quite quickly if I’m going to have trouble settling. It’s looking good though and apparently it was. I fell asleep.

Now this is where it might get a little vague but I’ll try and relay it as best I can.

I’m having a dream. And it is a dream … at this stage. Guess what it’s about? Yup … Zodiac. I think it might have been first one ever. There’s no linear storyline to it unfortunately so it’s going to be told in a "something about" kinda fashion.

It was something about the ciphers. The 340 being solved and being on/in the news.

It was something about the letters.

There was probably some other stuff about … something lol.

It might have been about something I’d discovered. Or hypothesised on correctly. Or even just thought. Either way I think it looked like he was still alive. I get a letter in the post from … yeah you guessed that too … the Zodiac. I’m not at all freaked out, I think ‘dream me’ considers this more cool than anything and in a way making sense. I/we must have discovered something because I think it was (the letter) a final act, a personal offering of kudos obviously before he would be arrested and most likely incarcerated. I think I’m assuming a few of us might have got these. The impression I remember is that, yes this is slightly worrying but there wasn’t anything threatening about it per se. More like an old man hoping to do one last semi-normal thing before prison. To ‘chat’ about it all with someone he might have considered worthy in a slightly twisted way so maybe I had done something or made a connection that brought him out of obscurity.

I’m not even that freaked out that he used my real name on the envelope. I guess I rationalized that he must still be ‘clever’ to have found it and used it. Most likely from our own forum or another Z forum. It is out there.

Then I notice that there’s no address on the envelope, the f**ckin’ thing has been hand delivered , that’s when I start to freak. I’m checking the doors and windows. Peeking through curtains. Looking for strange cars, strange people, the Zodiac. I start hearing noises. Is someone trying to get in, is HE trying to get in?

Then comes the really loud pounding on my front door …

… for real !!!

I’m bolt upright in bed and I’ve ripped the ear plugs out of my ears. AARRRGGGHHH!!!.

1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seco …. Oh FFS. I’m having a hypo.

In a way it’s kinda interesting and certainly quite creative. I don’t half wonder if my brain didn’t begin scripting the dream once my blood sugars started to drop. Let me be clear, as far as I was concerned the knocking on the door was very real and very external, i.e not in the dream. I guess it had to appear that way to wake me. I guess that must have been what it was like for real in California when he was around. Jumping at every little noise outside your house etc, wondering if it could be him.

That was about 3am. It’s 4am now, I’ve had something to eat, got my coffee, finishing writing this lol and the sun’s just coming up. :D

I recommend 8 hours of sleep a night, every night (although I personally likely average 7), exercising, and staying hydrated, I think you will feel better all around. I have been sticking to this plan for 60 days and have lost 30 pounds. Also, no caffeine late at night, if I drink any too late, I also find myself tossing and turning

Yes, I’ve been slowly putting some of those things/suggestions into action. Just to be clear though the main crux of the thread was about the dream and the title was a little play on words. All that stuff healthwise has been happening but I know it’ll get better and I can and am doing things to assist in that. I thought the whole thing was actually pretty funny hence the sharing. :D

It all seemed so brilliantly scripted to have the story in the dream lead up to the knocking on the door right at the end and just before my sugars dropped so low it might have been a major problem.

Congrats on the weight loss. My preferred method over the years has been medical trauma but that’s not for everyone lol.

Sorry Trav. I missed the main point of your post-the dream.

I too dream about this case, and one night,I woke from a dead sleep, and went to the computer to start researching something. Is this a sign that we are too obsessed with this case?

I think it’s gone way beyond obsession. Eventually we will only be able to communicate with riddles and Gilbert & Sullivan references or unsolvable ciphers and we’ll all be wearing wingwalkers. :D

Trav, your nightmare reminded me of something along the lines of…."He’s calling from inside the house — get out of there right now!" lol

It was so like that drew. There’s an old film I remember watching in the late 70’s, early 80’s. There’s been quite a few takes on it but mostly they have the word ‘sitter’ in the title. It was an English horror/thriller around the hey-day of the Hammer House films and had that kinda feel to it. It was probably called ‘The Babysitter’.
