Saw this "Zodiac Maniac" book mentioned at Richard Grinells site.

A new suspect is introduced. William Thoresen, the wealthy heir of a Steel Magnate who was criminally active and mentally deranged it seems.

In the late 1960’s Thoreson had a Mansion at 2801 Broadway in Pacific Heights. Nine blocks from where Stine was shot. He was about 32 when Stine was shot.

Author, Glenn Wall has at least one other cold case book under his belt.

The suspect sounds like other suspects per this review…

"These murders have never been officially solved, but author Glenn Wall has found a very credible suspect. Although one could call this "circumstantial evidence", there are so many parallels and coincidences between this suspect and the killings that it is hard to not see a direct connection."

I have collected a ton of information on Thoresen. I first became aware of him when researching the Minutemen and found some FBI documents where they were trying to link Thoresen to the Minutemen. He was selling them weapons but the FBI never found evidence of that. He was also running weapons to Central America.

Thoresen was questioned in the 1957 murder of Judith Mae Andersen and was the #1 suspect in the 1966 murder of Valerie Percy. He killed a friend of his named Dale Stoddard after Stoddard murdered Thoresen’s brother, Richard, for him. Stoddard was trying to get more money out of Thoresen and ended up getting his head bashed in with a hammer. Thoresen had Stoddard kill his brother after Bill had manipulated Richard into putting his name on his will so that Bill’s greedy ass would get all o Richard’s money. Bill also broke a waiter’s arm once because his bill was 50 cents more than it should have been, or something like that.

Living a mile from the Stine murder scene and being a complete psychopath are the reasons I looked at Thoresen for any possible involvement in the Zodiac case, and I’m not convinced that he wasn’t involved in some way with Stine’s murder, but there’s no way he himself was Zodiac. I spoke to Glenn Wall briefly a few years ago and am pretty surprised he thinks Thoresen could be a Zodiac suspect, although I am pretty sure my old website had something to do with that.

Check out all the cool stuff I have on Thoresen at my old website:

Hi,

This Thoreson is the subject of the baseless assumption that Qvale somehow "hid" Zodiac in his basement on the night of the Stine murder. If someone can provide one shred of evidence for this notion, I’d be interested in listening. But this is just an idea that someone got in their head and so they now state it as gospel/proven fact. Qvale lived 2 1/2 blocks from the Stine murder scene and it is supposed to be "amazing" that this Thoreson lived like 9 blocks away. LOL.

A psychopath is just a sociopath. It is not a psychotic, who hears voices or suffers breaks with reality, etc. In my book, I provide evidence that suggests that KQ was a sociopath. So he was a sociopath who lived 2 1/2 blocks from the Stine murder scene and just 1 1/2 blocks from Wash/Maple, the trip sheet destination.

I have never stated that Qvale hid Zodiac in his home after the murder, but have suggested the possibility of it several times. It may have happened. It may not have happened. We will probably never know either way.

IIRC, you have been pretty definite about this in the past and it was not stated a mere conjecture. But I’d have to go through your past posts and I do not choose to do that right now. Suffice it to say that you do apparently recognize it as conjecture.

This guy Mike R obviously used an appropriate methodology that resulted in a bogus conclusion.

YOU say it’s a bogus conclusion. Don’t presume to speak for *everybody*. There are plenty of people who deem it appropriate to disagree with your grand pronouncement.

It is just an opinion/theory, which is why I have never stated it is fact. And it is entirely possible. Something to think about anyways.
