Still trying to figure out how Gary Stewart tapped into so much that his father, Earl Van Best Jr. did or might of done. When he asked his Biological Mom, Judy about him, her reply was she was forced to forget everything about him & that her memory was/is severely repressed. Maybe her memory returned or I assume Gary received his information, interviewing others? Maybe the answer to this, is further down in his book.
Location 1751, talks about how Van befriended Rick Marshall.
Part 2 location 1800 on Kindle. Van married his 3rd wife, Edith Mane Kos on 6/6/66 paying homage to LaVey. Thought that date was interesting. Earlier in the Book he meant Anton LaVey, went to his home & church.

Dave Toschi says he will take a look at this new suspect according to the Daily Mail. Current picture of Toschi in this article and the article also shows where Best’s name is in the 408. Actually it’s a no brainer.

The Church of Satan was not actually in existence until the summer of 1966 at the earliest. See Myths 19 and 20. LaVey did have lectures in his home and spoke on "exotic and occult" topics earlier in 1966. It is possible that Best attended these lectures and was hanging out with LeVay as the Church of Satan was being established. As I have not read Stewart’s book yet I don’t know if the author places his father elsewhere during this time.

LaVey was a con man and it sounds like Best was a bit of a con man, too. Birds of a feather……

My main questions would be what the, where the, how the and why the.

More answerable side questions would be, is that in the book and does it explain how that top line was arrived at? I can see what he’s done to arrive at the 2nd and 3rd lines but how was the 1st line arrived at?

I think he might be pulling symbols out of the 408 to come up with that. This is what is at that Daily Mail link.
