Now that much is true, Gilford did marry the Author’s aunt. I verified that last night as I was sorting thru his Family tree

Here’s my problem, I think his suspect is interesting. I think it’s also interesting that the Girl who he kidnapped/married, had Grandparents living in Vallejo in 1969. I think the fact his Father/Suspect, assuming he really enjoyed the Mikado is interesting. Ther’e alot of interesting stuff.

What I can’t even accept, or force myself to read(listen to since its an audio book),is the part in which the author, out of left field, suddenly just starts saying that "Van shot Darlene","Van mailed a letter to the editor". No warning, no bother to make a connection or show how he came to be zodiac, or if he knew the victims. None of that. This is no short book, and I can’t bring myself to go thru 5 more hours of bullshit in which this guy decides, with no proof, to declare his Father was zodiac.

I think the suspect is interesting, and he may even be zodiac, but I can’t finish it, I just can’t. If his Suspect turns out to be zodiac, it apparently will be thur dumb luck, because in my opinion, the Author has shown no verifiable evidence or connections.

Luckily, it looks like several people her will have the book soon, so reports should be plenty. I have a feeling, they will mostly be negative.

I hope everybody here understands

Morf, my theory on this, is to finish the book. Any Book on the Z at this point is liable to have some things suspicious in them. But just because an author makes a mistake, doesn’t mean they don’t have the right guy. That goes for a lot of Zodiac research.

If Zodiac ever joined a Z forum, I’m sure he would have been banned for not following forum rules. Zam’s/Quote

The name exchange from Zodiac to Van is just a device probably suggested and/or encouraged by the publisher to set the book apart from the many. many others. Don’t let it get to you, Morf. I just got an email that my book has shipped, I got a hard copy so there will be plenty of images no doubt.

The author states that his Father died in Mexico in 1984, and there was no US record of his death and I think he filed paperwork in the US to have his Father’s death recorded.

I still don’t know where that 1974 death report for his Father came from, or what is involved I have not seen that addressed yet

Hi-

Is there any rhyme or reason to his solution to the "Mt name is…" code? Lyndon and Harvey had solutions that seem to cancel each other out but they had DEFINITE and logical patterns to their solutions that even I would defend. Is there any pattern to this guy’s "solution" or it is just the fact that there are 13 characters in each iteration?

Mike, I noticed in the trailer that they put up an image of the MNI and have " Minister’s Son " under the letters and symbols. Minister’s Son does have the requisite 3,2,2,2,1,1,1,1 letter frequency to the letter/symbol frequency in the code but not in the same order. You need to count the apostrophe, too.

I also encourage you to finish this. Did you see the printing sample in the youtube video that was linked upthread? There have been several handwriting samples that have intrigued me, made me think that the similarities were close enough where the writer could be the Zodiac. The sample of Best’s writing in the video (0:34)? To my eye, that is Zodiac’s. If the document shown is legit (not just a promotional mock up produced for the video), then I am officially excited, and grateful for dumb luck! If it is not, then I will be furious at the author and/or Harper-Collins.

I am not an expert on handwriting analysis, but I encourage everyone on the board to look it over. That printing is "it" – whether "it" is the first indication of proof, or the first indication of a hoax… time will tell.

I saw the youtube video writing. It does resemble Zodiac’s writing, but its blurry and only a second’s worth of imagery. Let’s hope the actual book has writing samples that are clear. I have the audiobook, so I can’t see any writing.

Can you describe how the writing sounds? :P

Here’s a link to the writing samples of his suspect:
http://themostdangerousanimalofall.com/ … riel-2.gif

Some of the writing is similar, but some differences too. One major flaw, he has provided writing from the "1990 card", which I assume is the Eureka card. That is meaningless, and not sure why he included it as his suspect died in 1984.

Good point about the Eureka card morf. lol

And the marriage certificate? Who is to say HE filled that out. Is there proof or a way to tell?

I still don’t understand this:
http://wlstorage.net/oc/2474.2/258484.pdf

His Son states in his book that his Father died in 1984, and that he went to Mexico to see his Father’s grave. So where this 1974 telegram comes from is odd

I have the print book on order — I will attempt to view it objectively. I struggle with audiobooks because of their tendency to be melodramatic. I won’t be surprised if there are some gimmicks in the written story too, and this thing sure came out of the blue.

Still, some of the parallels are intriguing.
