My wife bought me this book (by Douglas Oswell) and although only a 1/4 of the way through I was pleasantly surprised by how well-written it is. It’s been around a few years so I expected a thread on here already, it certainly deserves one (unless my search powers have deserted me, I couldn’t find any).
My understanding is that Oswell is the primary researcher responsible for most of the potential connections between the two killers and he’s done a remarkable job really. Currently I remain ‘open-minded’ about TK, I struggle to believe one person could be both but it’s interesting that, with all the focus there’s been on Ted, no-on has been able to rule him out yet… and there’s an awful lot of circumstantial pointers that are hard to explain away. Highly recommended if you’re sick of the current crop of badly-written Z books.

I’m pretty sure the FBI cleared him fairly quickly once he was in custody via fingerprints, handwriting, and alibi.

You should read AK Wilks’ posts in the Kaczynski section:

I don’t agree with the conclusions he makes from the ciphers, but AK has presented a lot of his and Doug Oswell’s well-researched connections between Zodiac and the Unabomber. It’s very interesting despite my objections to their ideas about the ciphers.

Yes, I agree. I’m not sold on TK as Z either – far from it. But the work done by the gentlemen mentioned is MUCH more solid (in my opinion) than that of many others who have compiled cases against (and published books about) a favorite suspect.

Thanks for the comments james, doranchak and norse.

Yes I think it is a very well researched and well written work. You can learn more about the possible connection at Doug Oswell’s website here http://www.unazod.com and I think you can order the book there or on amazon.

You can also check out my thread at this site here viewtopic.php?f=102&t=938 . I tried to summarize the best evidence showing a possible link between the Zodiac and Kaczynski in that thread.

pettibon – well there no definitive Zodiac prints. There are prints from the cab, but I talked to Paul Holes, the Chief of the crime lab for Contra Costa County, which is contracted for lab services to Vallejo, and he told me that none of the cab prints match any other prints in the case, and do not match anyone in the database, and he said it was not certain that any were real prints from the Zodiac. I even asked him about what Graysmith called the print in blood on the cab and he said again "There are no confirmed prints from Zodiac" in his opinion. There is also no confirmed DNA from Zodiac. So Ted Kaczynski has not been cleared of being Zodiac by anyone. You can see my thread on if Ted has an alibi for the Zodiac crimes here:

I like Ted as a suspect. As a possible part of a team, especially. I mean, the ciphers/codes could have easily been his work. His handwriting is probably the 2nd best I have seen, behind Manalli. I don’t think Ted was Z, but I think he could have played a role.
