Is it worth dropping $10 ?

It depends. For me I was curious and yes the $10 was worth my curiosity; however the content is not something I feel is accurate, so in that aspect no. I don’t regret purchasing it and spending the time reading, but it’s not a book I will be rereading. I hope that helps.

Looks like he made some words appear but still has loads of gibberish in the solve. I’ve seen many solutions like that in the past.

LOL. This reminds me of something from 2008 or so. I started speaking to this ex-newsman about my research and he was very supportive and interested. Then a year or so later he told me that he had solved the case but could not have done it without my input. I had put him on the right track or something. I think he said that ALA and my suspect were involved IIRC but since I had not mentioned ALA, he had used my research to solve the case. I felt like a little kid he was gratuitously patting on the head. He then sent me this solution to the 340 that looked like a word search puzzle. He eventually agreed to meet with LL and he explained to him that what he did was not cryptography. After that the guy disappeared. I wonder if the guy might have been manic depressive or something but it was a weird experience.

Funny, I don’t see the book listed on Toms site, maybe I’m not searching in the right sections.

I don’t see the book on Tom’s forum either but I got one of those mass emails from him a couple of days ago and a link to the Amazon page for the book was in the email.

It’s not on the message board, but it is at the main site: http://zodiackiller.com/

There seems to be no shortage of people like that! I often wonder what goes through someone’s mind to convince them that they have magically stumbled on the solution to such an enduring mystery.

Did you retain his solution? I’d be curious to see it.

Dave I’d love to see you invest the $10 just so I can read your evaluation of the "solution".

Ray Grant gives it a 1 Star review on Amazon. Grant says the author gets basic facts of the crimes wrong, and for the first time ever I will say I think Grant is mostly correct. Maybe someone who read the book can confirm this, but Grant seems to say that the most exonerated suspect ever, Allen, is the suspect here, though he also mentions something about the code "solution" revealing a Japanese surname.

Dave, Mr. Grant mentions you in his review. Grant discredits the cipher work in this book, for what seem to be good reasons, but also throws in a shot at you and FBI code expert Dan Olson for not putting the 340 "in context".

People who have their own solutions won’t agree with others solutions.

That may sometimes be true, but Grant’s criticism of the proposed code solution is similar to previous criticism from Dave, myself and others, that forced solutions that produce a 5 or 6 letter name along with multiple lines of gibberish are not valid solutions.
