Anyone have any connection to Granada Hills, CA anywhere? I ask because I found an article about a group that was formed there that used the acronym CLEW. It was for students aged 16-18 and was a training group for leadership for teens as a counselor at some camp. It was written about in the Valley News Paper for Van Nuys Feb 4, 1965. Just an odd Z connection…..

Not much…Z spelled clue, but clew, in one of his letters. I tend to harp on small coincidences and random patterns. Clew is in a LOT of newspapers back in the day but a club that was close by and started for teenagers in 64/65 named CLEW struck me as odd a bit.

It was a group that was formed to help teenagers train to be leaders in clubs and camps. The acronym stands for Club Leadership Workshop and was widely utilized in CA back in Z’s day.
Here is one article on the group from February 1965….my thought was that one or more of the victims may have been associated with this group and Z possibly a mentor…it was started specifically for teens.

While I waited for you to respond to, the CLEW group information, I did a search on what little you had already provided.
It is my believe that your find is an accurate explanation for the word "clew". I am totally, like oh my God, into it – hook, line and sinker. I also agree with you that mentoring may play a role. However, I think I would have to disagree that the organization, was Z’s motivation for mentioning the word. Scratch the surface Vasa.
